What's the typical mileage life of a well maintained, stock 2.5RS. Of course there's no exact figure, I'm just looking for some experience and approximations.
I've had one with 274k... regular maintenance really is the key. Average lifespan is probably 200-250k but then again most dead RS's were wrecked, not mechanically worn out.
I just hit 150,000 and I don't think the previous owner maintained it very well.(woman driver... massive curb rash) O yaa it runs fine. sMokes a little on startup but Its still runs good
I have 155k on my 00rs and Idk if the previous owner kept up with regular maintenance but when I changed the valve cover gaskets it looked beautiful inside still and it still runs strong.
I have a 2001 RS with 106,000KM, minor mods and its running like new. Just stay on top of the maintance and dont push the car if you dont need to. There is no need to rip it from light to light or around corners.
I have a 99 RS with 148,880 miles and it still kicks strong seems like maintenance was done regularly enough to keep it running strong. My idle is at 700 rpms and I think that is good.
thats it, my 96 impreza just broke 219K, ive never owned a subie with under 200K, most of them i have bought sight unseen from auctions and driven to other states with just a oil change before.
i work at a subie wrecking yard, average range is between 150K-450K and they still run like new. most of them are t-bones, or rear-ends. its VERY rare to see one with a bad engine.
