Your build is looking awesome! I am still kicking myself I didn't jump on a cobb catted downpipe that showed up on FB for $250, close to me out in the boonies. I mulled it over for a few hours before I messaged the guy and it was already too late... Dang it!
I'm back in action! I made some additional progress on the engine build. I picked up a gently used '20 STI intercooler from a local guy for cheap. The breather lines aren't exactly compatible with older hose setups, but I made it work by splicing extra hose segments in using brass hose menders. I also had to extend the passenger mounting bracket with some bar stock for the wider intercooler. The result came out fairly nice. I installed the VF48 Hi Flow I ordered a while back, as well as an iWire replacement engine harness. I ended up using the original JDM alternator to repair my Outback, so I replaced it with a 2011+ 110 amp one. Not pictured is a 2007 STI power steering pump that I'm waiting on a new bracket for to install. The JDM pump was leaky. I also need to reseal the oil pan. I didn't use enough sealant when installing and I noticed an oil leak at the rear of the pan where it meets the block. Also on the list is finishing the sound deadening on the firewall and installing the merged body harness.
Not swap related, but I did manage to pick up a brand new gauge housing from the dealer. As of last week, there were only 2 left in stock according to their system. Now there might be 1. Act fast if you want to snag the last one!
The engine went in without too much fuss. I bought a load leveler from Harbor Freight and it made it so much easier to get everything lined up properly. I still need to drop the car down to load the suspension so I can torque all the subframe botls properly. Wiring harness install is also coming up!
Some more creeping progress. I finished installing my iWire harness today... exactly one year to the day after I removed it to send off for its merge. Did a quick check to see if got power and so far so good. I also changed out the fuel pump for an AEM 340. I drained as much gas out of the tank as I could since its been sitting for a year. Tomorrow I'll fill up a few gallons of fresh 93 octane and wire up the fuel pump controller. Getting closer!
