Hello! So I am looking to buy a 2000 4D 2.5RS, It is automatic unfortunately but I don't want to really bother on manual swapping it. I know the guy selling it, they are my family friends. Whats wrong with the car is that the alternator is way too old and rusted and it smokes out every time the car gets started, so thats what needs to replaced, but I'm sure there is more problems since there is 206,000 miles on the car... I'll show some pics of the car, there is a little bit of rust on the rear side panels but other than that no rust on the outside of the car.

Awesome, good luck with it! Alternator is a super easy fix and pretty inexpensive. No need to blur out your plate, nobidy is stealing stock RSs anymore lol, especially in New Jersey.

The smoking might be signs of a head gasket issue especially around 200k

I'm guessing probably will need more work than that since it hasn't been inspected since 2017, I'd plan for at least a o2 sensor or catalytic converter to get it legal for the road, or you can wait 2 years and put classic plates on it.

Yeah I was thinking that aswell, not sure if it’s better to swap the engine or to just fix it up

Thanks so much alternator issue from what I know now. I’m sure many more issues will presume as I get it inspected 🫠
