im lookin for a cat back exhaust for my 99 RS anyone have any suggestions on which one i should buy? lemme know which ctabck gives me the most power and good sound quality(not to loud though)i was thinking about the G Reddy Evo that came out a couple of months ago...your insight is needed

I personnally like the Brullen. In medium or quiet, the noise levels are resonable, and the power is the same for both. Also all stainless and lifetime warranty. Check out their website or Larry's. (imprezars.com)

What are the differences between them (besides the Lifetime warranty).?

Do they have a similar sound or performance gains?

I'm getting ready to buy a Cat back exhaust so any answers would help.

Personally, I'm very happy with my Stromung SS, dual tip.

I just sold the HKS and Our customer said it was easier to install than the stromung and the fit was better.
I carry HKS,Stromung,Greddy and Tanabe.

I have a couple questions:

I've heard the bunell is pretty quiet.. I want something that is capable of being loud.. but not rice master kill yo' ears loud.

I forget who had the Nurspec (I think that's what it's called).. Myles maybe? Anyway.. It sounds pretty beefy.. Would anyone reccomend it?

I've heard the Stromung is pretty loud (and throaty), is the Brunell similar (They both look very similar in design)?

How about Apexi's exhaust... Is it any good?


Anything anybody can answer is highly appreciated.

The Brullen comes in three settings - quiet, medium, and loud. They just adjust the amount of packing in the muffler and there is no addition or loss of power. Larry Ganz has a sound clip of a medium on his site.

No, they don't adjust the packing on the muffler. They add resonators to the pipe to quiet it down.

Loud has just the muffler, medium the muffler + resonator, and quiet muffler + 2 resonators..

I had the quiet on, but I got rid of it as it still droned quite a bit on the highway during long drives... Nice deep growl to it, similar to the stromung (although those I know with the stromung had rust after 1 winter, the brullen was fine after a year).

The fit wasn't that great, I had to have brullen drop the muffler a couple of inches as it was burning my bumper.

I wound up with an Apex'i N1 exhaust, and although it looks a lot more conspicuous than the brullen (5" melon launcher vs. dual 3" tips) it's MUCH MUCH quieter, has a nicer tone and flows a lot better (butt dyno)

i have a dualtip stromung and its perfect ..its throaty..and can get a lil louder when you rev it high enuf but in daily driving its a purr..i LOVE it, it doesnt distract me or is to loud, but still shows i know whats up..[lol] i strongly recomend..VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!!:drool:

If you have a ton of cash and want something slick but not too obnoxious, there's always the STi exhaust...

I've met a couple of the i-Clubbers with Brullen setups, and they looked and sounded pretty nice. Longshot (Webkris' brother) has the dual-tip, I met him up in Maine once. (He has the STi Ver5 suspension, I wanted to check out how it felt before I bought my own.)

No exposure to Stromung that I know of, but I know it's popular.
What's the one Cobb Tuning uses? Or is it their own....

i am in the same boat...looking for a quiet exhaust... i just installed a catless midsection...that combined with borla headers makes my car MAAADDD Loud, and although its cool today, in a week, i will want it quieter... so, checking my options... any suggestions.. the brullen looks nice, but its $800 yikes!!!

Can keep your midpipe and just get a a couple resonators welded on... quiet brullens are still loud for the first few months (just a warning) they have a loooong burn in time. Any exhaust is gonna be loud without a resonated mid section... just some will be louder than others... Stromung, Brullen, and Borla I think were rated the most quiet in the end... any of the dual tip ones too sound awesome as they can resonate with each other
