It's kinda surprising b/c they were saying last year that they would never get rid of that b/c it was such a traditional rally.

They also said it was the last one on the tour that was traditional.
So i guess if you look at it that way, then they would hack it to update competition.

They had also talked about getting rid of Argentina as well b/c of the whole money issue.

And of course they were talking about adding the US (Cherokee Trails), Canada for a snow & ice rally, and possibly Japan for another gravel rally.

SO i guess we just have to wait and see what happens.

if north america does get a WRC event (japan is also a strong possiblity), it will either be canada or mexico. in fact, the pugs are sending Rovanpera in a works 206 to the corona rally this year. scuttlebutt is that cherokee trails is probably not long for this world, let along making it to the WRC. the FIA has not been impressed and there are some political issues as well.

as far as safari rally goes, even early this year they were saying it would be around for at least 3 more years. but it sounds like the south africa rally would be in the same vein, but with closed stages as they travel across the country.

they already have a few spanish speaking events i dont think theyll push for three. so mexico is out. huh. kenya. thats kinda odd. i dont see the US. ha. how funny. wouldnt that be something. US getting an event. i couldnt imagine how rallying in the us would rocket so high. it would be like the bubonic plague. so ill stop dreaming now. canada is a good option. but really i dont see N. or C. America getting a rally. although costa rica might be a good one.

wait a minute. you think mexico (whom the FIA have been most impressed with) won't get it because they speak spanish, but costa rica might get it. last i checked, they speak spanish too :p besides, mexico would be in N.A. and could bring alot of fans down from the states, plus all of those in mexico.
