Thanks. When I had her in for paint a while back I asked the shop to remove the wing and fill the holes, so they were welded. I'm pretty sure an L trunk lid should be the same...except without the holes.
Thanks, it looks great, I might go wingless at some point, love the clean look.

Stupid question - if I pick up a set of GC JDM STi front aluminum control arms and want to replace all bushings w/ new poly bushings before install, do I just purchase bushings as if I'm replacing for the OEM bushings? Are the bushing diameters the same between both versions of the control arms?

On road car aluminium lower control arms, use group n/hardrace rubber in a pivot location.
ST2020055000 and ST2020055010
I doubt you'll find group n front bushings:
If you do use rubber, make sure you orientate the front press-in bushes correctly get the gaps in the rubber in the correct place.
This also applies to rubber front trailing arm bushes:

85416

You could use stock rubber in the aluminium front arms (same as steel):
front bush 2 x 20201AA070
rear bush 1 x 20201FA070 1x 20201FA080

Purchased driver and passenger door belt moldings and rear window lower trim piece. The people who painted my car were able to restore the coupe rear window trim surround pieces, so they look pretty new. I tried to order the upper window trim pieces but only the passenger side is available anymore and it is fucking expensive - $170!!! I was really hoping to replace all the trim...the only pieces left were the upper window trim. I found them through overseas vendors but they're even more expensive than the the passenger piece still available here in the US.

So I started gearing up for my next project while my RS sleeps in the garage until all sinister salt is off the roads. I picked up an extra set of EJ251 heads a while back for dirt cheap to limit downtime while I refreshed the heads. I also grabbed an extra ECM and sent it off to Delicious Tuning for a reflash. Don't have too many pics yet because it was single digits most of the day and my space heater for the garage decided to take a shit. New one should be arriving eventually. Anyway, here's a few pics of what's in store.

I just re-read my post and realized I was scant on the details - Delicious Tuning 2.1 Stage 2 map JEC reflash, Delta 1500 cams, and all new Subaru intake and exhaust valves in addition to the seals listed above.
I will also have an additinal set of complete OEM EJ251 heads (mileage unknown but from a running car when pulled) and an additional set of unused Delta 1500 cams for sale if anyone is interested.

I can't remember, is there supposed to be a fitting on the rear of the driver side head for an EGR pipe - where the pen tip is pointing? If so does anyone happen to know what it's called or possibly have a part number?

^^^ Nevermind - just checked the heads that are currently on the car - no EGR tube from IM to driver head. I was confused - just rebuilt the motor on my 07 Inpreza Outback, and I distinctly remember removing that pipe and then reinstalling it after gead gasket replacement. Looks like the bung on the IM for the 2000 routes via vacuum line directly to the brake booster.

Heads are fully assembled, minus the cam pulleys, and ready for install. Again, Delta 1500 cams, Supertech titanium springs, retainers, and collettes, brand new Suby cam seals, cam caps, valve stem seals, and all intake and exhaust valves. Heads were thoroughly cleaned, valve seats cleaned and checked. Per Delta specs, intake valve lash set at 0.006 and exhaust lash at 0.008. And a few pics...

So a little off topic. The heads are gonna sit for a while until I can stockpile all the parts I need for an engine refresh - seals, head gaskets, timing, etc. So I'm looking to upgrade my steering wheel and am looking for suggestions. I know our cars run a single stage airbag deployment charge, so that's a necessity. I'd like to retain cruise control function - not that I use it but I'd like for it to continue functioning, as well as the turn indicators actually turning off when the wheel returns to center (I think that's a JDM thing) I know the WRX Momo wheels are the easiest to swap over but I'm not a fan of the 4 spoke design...I'm sort of partial to the 3 spoke design of the Nardi wheels and STi wheels. Herein lies another issue - I've looked at the 04-05 STi wheels, both JDM and USDM and I don't like the grey center section. I'd really like for the wheel to be all black w/ the red stitching. The Forester SG9 wheels look pretty nice but I'm sure if they're compatible as far as fitment or function. The JDM V6 wheel is gorgeous but I haven't been able to find one that isn't absolutely thrashed but still asking for a shit ton of money. Like I said I'm open to suggestion to help find a wheel that fits the bill. If anyone is sitting on one and wants to sell, feel free to reach out. I promise it's going to a good home.

Does anyone know of any alternatives to the front strut tower caps that cover the strut studs / bearings? All KYB replacement struts, including AGX upper front strut studs, seem to be a bit taller / longer than OEM and the caps never seat properly. I've cut them in the past but they just look like shit. I really don't want these bearings open to the elements if avoidable. I was thinking maybe trying to see if a part like the OEM rear metal strut tower cover plates would fit but wanted to see if anyone had a solid solution.

I never really thought about covering the strut caps. My car came with AGXs when I got it so I've never had them. Haven't had any issues.

Quick question. When you had your heads worked on, did you have the valve seats machined? My heads are currently at the machinist and I'm debating having them do a valve job as well. I'd like to replace the valves with GSC valves and I'm not sure if I should just lap them or have machining done. Thanks!

The Whiteline mounts I have use the "updated" closed Koyo bearings - I just hate the idea of them being open like they are and having the potential to getting a bunch of shit in there. Every pair of GR2s I put in any Subaru has the stud being too long for the cover - be nice if KYB would just manufacture an updated cover to accommodate...

I had the heads cleaned / acid dipped, or whetever the hell they do to clean them and I had them machine / check the valve seats. I reassembled everything myself and set the valve lash per Delta's specs rather than the factory specs. All intake and exhaust valves and seals are new Subaru parts.
