Hey everyone,
I was just postin this to let everyone know I just got my first 2.5 RS... my family has been into subarus for a long time... but this one is mine.... Its a 2000 model, and its silver. I'll post pics as soon as I figure it out, and get some daylight tomorrow to take them. But just from driving it around tonight, I'm already in love...

2K is a great year, no MAF to go south on you.
I know you just got it, but have you figured on any mods yet?

BTW Rallychic, the people w/ autos don't have to worry about blowing up their tranny when they go to stage 4 turbo.
Even the "unbreakable" gearsets break, rendering them, um, breakable.

(I have a 5-speed, and it's still within permisible torque limits)

I bet I can kick your ass in an SCCA event with my 4EAT equipped RS baby! It's very few people who are faster than my RS on the track, and usually it's guys with years and years of racing experience. :devil:

And if I ever am so fortunate to go turbo, there's no way I am putting that glass 5-speed tranny in my car!

I think the first mods I'm gonna do are...

1. Find some good sway bars.
2. Isn't there a stock subaru silencer on the intake? I think I read that somewhere on this site... sounds like there is, engines real quiet... if there is, gonna get rid of it assuming it can be easily done.
3. Find some way of increasing that little baby pipe comin out the back for exhaust, they say its an exhaust pipe, I call it a metal straw... I dont actually know how much it hurts performance but it looks weak as hell.
4. And lastly, since I'm the co-owner of http://www.smpolishing.tk/ , I'm gonna do some fairly intense polishing of about anything metal I can find under that hood.

Thats about all I've come up with for now... we'll see, I'll keep looking around, and any suggestions are welcome.

as for sway bar, i got a whiteline 18-22mm sway bar. been on there for over 1.5 years already. love it, well worth it. car felt so different with the beefed rear sway bar. as for the intake silencer, i don't know about that. i read about it before, but i took the whole stock intake out. all i have on there is a cone filter and 3 breathers. kinda loud, kinda like it. and for muffler or exhaust, yea, gotta get a bigger tube. it's good that you are enjoying your car.

The stock intake is indeed quiet, and it really starves the motor for air, making it sluggish to reach high RPM. At least there is no chance of running lean.

The "GravelSports" top mount intake is getting a lot of acolades from users. www.pkzero.com then "N/A parts.

It has a lot of inherent advantages, and only 2 inherent disadvantages, that I can see: 1 is cost, $300 and 2 is it could injest water. While mist/a little rain wont hurt, and actually can help with detonation, a cup full will do major destruction. I'm thinking up a DIY derivitive using a galvanized register for home air conditioning, ABS pipe, and a panel filter. Total cost will be about $20 + the filter, which could be $50 or $60.

Other mods you may want to consider with your rear bar:

New gas struts and Eibach or other performance springs
Whiteline Anti Lift Kit

There are a few other great things to help handling, but they can add NVH..(Noise Vehicle Hashness)

Yeah, I'm gonna wait til the warranty runs out on the car before I play with the engine, but when I do mess with it I think I'll just replace the whole intake system.

And I'm really leaning toward a nice set of Falcon Azenis for the rubbers... my tires arent too nice at the moment...

it's falken azenis i think. ibluevirus here has them. i borrowed them for a couple of days and i love them a lot. once they are heated up, the stick like crazy!

Yeah, thanks on the spelling... no idea why I wrote "Falcon", I assume just the similar sounds... but anyways, I was at an autocross the other day and a 2.5 with Azenis was beatin the shit out of everyone except for the A-mods. So I figured thats probably a pretty good choice, and I've heard alot about 'em.
