the best things to do in my own opinion and still keep the car reliable and funI was wanting to put a new exhaust and intake on my RS. Is there anything I should be aware of as a new RS owner? Thanks
lets not turn this site into "the other site"Not trying to hate on the OP but you could easily have found the answer to that question by searching around some...
Fair enough...Welcome to the site, we really are warm and cuddly here, my suggestions depend on how you want to drive your car, if you want it to be "quick" in the as quick as a stock Subie can be way...then go with what DAV3 said...but if you want to hug the corners, most definitely start with front and rear sway bars, and move to coilovers, springs etc etc... GL and again, welcome.
Exhaust is my favorite mod...thank you guys for helping me out..and you were right, I should have looked harder. Right now I'm jut trying to it a little quicker but maybe eventually upgrade further. Thanks again for the help
If you are a daily driver, I would stick to upgraded struts and springs. No matter what is said, unless you are tracking the car (and I don't mean autocross) the ride on even the softest coilovers is NOT worth the day to day ride quality. It will get old fast.
For aggressive driving and an occasional Auto-x, I would recommend Swift springs www.mannengineering.com and Tokico Spec-D adjustable struts http://www.fastwrx.com/todsh.html and you will also need spacers for the struts (they are all for '02 applications) http://www.fastwrx.com/ticscstsp.html
Also be aware that we are sort of the odd man out with the 2005. Make sure your intake is designed for an '05 or it won't work! I am using this ~ http://www.rallitek.com/incoinsypoal1.html
However, be aware that the intake is for nothing but bling and sound ~ you will gain just as much by doing this 'snorkus delete' and running a high flow panel filter (NO OILED filter, no K&N or Green, etc. Go with AEM, HKS... etc. Dry ONLY... the oil will coat your MAF and eventually make your car run poorly). http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113
Hey i got a question for you NW OBS... did you have to do anything to your ECU when you put that intake on... aside from resetting it? Because i have heard that the MAF sensor needs to be remapped...Also be aware that we are sort of the odd man out with the 2005. Make sure your intake is designed for an '05 or it won't work! You will find all the struts (AGX, Tokico etc.) will be for -02-03 applications. With those spacers, they will work perfectly on your 2005!NW OBS, Thanks for the info.. I'll give the snorkus delete a shot.
You mention the spring and strut link is set up for a '02 will if fit the '05 or will I need just that year??
thanks, David
