Well, I cannot post to specialstage anymore....

I don't know why it could've happened, or who would've suggested it..... *cough*subie-gal*cough*

While being banned from the I-Club was my goal from the begining, I guess it comes with some side effects that I must deal with. Too bad, though, as I was really getting into their tech forums... oh well.

There are some ways around that:

http://www.anonymizer.com/

That's just the first site I found, so there are bound to be tons of other resources.

The open nature of the Internet makes it *very* hard to really know who somebody is, and to truly track what's going on. Simple measures can be used to keep away 99% of the people that don't know any better, but it takes a helluva lot of work to even begin to make a dent in that last 1%

If you do a little research to make yourself one of that 1% you can get back on those places. Personally, I wouldn't go to the trouble ;)

the free anonymizer wont work for bbs's....

Oh, and I want access to SpecialStage... not the I-Club.... although there have been a few threads over there that were begging for Roy-Style response...

You could always download the Mozilla browser source code and hack it to send fake information. For full effect you'd want to use a known IP address of someone you don't like. It'd be way easier to buy the non-free anonymizer though ;)

Just trying to point out that if it were *really* important to you, you could work around it. Like I said, I wouldn't go to the trouble :)

Hey Roy, I know that Special Stage lost a lot of info a couple of weeks ago, and my registration was one of the bits that was lost. I just re-registered, and there was no problem. I know it seems simple, but it might be worth a try if you haven't done so already...

Mike,

I was registered both before and after the website was "re-tooled", and I can request (and receive) an updated password if I select the "forgot password" link. The problem is when I log in, I get a "account not active" warning.

The thing is, specialstage is run by Burmeister, and he's one of Subie-Gal's mindless drones.... so I'm pretty sure that I was "banned" in short order....

Oh well, I guess. Their loss.

I just mean that I love the way you guys poke fun at the I-clubber tight-asses, and we were just killing ourselves laughing at the "Rant on - Rant off" smiley.
I used to monitor the I-club board every day, now I go check the Canada forum once a week just to see if anything is happening near me, other than that I can't be bothered. I just like to peruse this board for some good fun.
No offence intended to anyone.

if you're intrested check out black ice [email protected] networkice.com
it keeps all your info in and keeps people out (a.k.a. IP snoopers) costs 40 or 50 bucks though but, perfect for dsl users against hackers. the only other thing is to go to dial up networking and right click your connection, then properties and, specify your own IP (call your online service first or you may not be able to get back on!!!!) you can also ask them how to do it and it costs no money.:D

If we're talking security, get Tiny Personal Firewall at http://www.TinySoftware.com - it's free, ICSA certified, and very effective.

BlackICE is also a good application, but it has gotten kind of crazy lately (new revisions) and pops up all sorts of warnings which get old.

I prefer Tiny PF because it is unobtrusive and effective. Just be sure and have it warn you when a new connection is being made, and read the details carefully.

i keep hearing about the tiny but, i've also heard it doesn't work well with a home network setup. either way call your ISP and have them tell you how to change your IP address. it only takes about 10 mins. if they say they won't/can't tell them you're gonna switch services and they'll change their mind quickly.
