I did a bad thing yesterday:stinky: ...I went out and test drove a 5spd WRX. Not only that, I also drove a SS Camaro!

I'm afraid I'll get kicked off the board for this, but my conscience just can't bear the guilt anymore!:(

Anyway, the SS was just scary fast, I was able to pull the tires loose anywhere in first gear, even at speed while decently hooked up. Amazing motor with obscene power everywhere, too bad the suspension isn't up to par and it's a little chunky.

The wrx, on the other hand, felt almost exactly like my car (big surprise) with way more power...not SS like, though.

I was out comparing cars for my move to a no-snow state, so the SS was definitely an option, but not after the wrx. It just felt perfect, like I belong in the car. Maybe I just need to turbo my 99RS.:happynow: :burnout:

Forgive me?

Okay now,

I have an RS that I love very much, but I have absolutely nothing against the WRX, as a matter of fact, I think that once the WRX has been lowered down some from its monster truck lide stock height, it is a very sleek, attractive car. I still like the agressive, in your face, styling of the GC8 better. But I do not think that the WRX is ugly, or neon like. Lots of cars have round headlights. Porche and Mercedes spring to mind.

Recommendations?

What would you recommend? The corvette's a little outta my price range as I would want the Z06. And the Mustang, well, it buried the Camaros in sales, but three generations of my family have worked for GM so...:borg:

Granted, the power of the Z was amazing, but it's chassis just isn't well balanced, nor is it as nimble as our cars. Add the fact that it would be my every-day driver, it just doesn't look like that great of an option any more.

However, I'm still nuts about the car:D

I love my WRX too.. even though you guys hate the headlights :) :p

You could try a WS6 Firebird if you can get your hands on one. An old college buddy of mine just got one and he loves it. Same power as the SS, but for some reason Firebirds always seem to come out a hair faster in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile tests in magazines.

yeah i recommend mustangs or trans ams. but thats just my taste. i dont really like the look of the camaros. you could also get a used C4 corvette. they are going for fairly cheap, 10-15k ive seen them go for. just make sure whatever you get is what you want and have fun :)

How can you say it feels the same? The extra weight of the new body style REALLY throws me off.

BTW, would anyone shoot me if I actually acknowledged out loud that I was considering converting my RS to RWD (and not just for dyno'ing)?

Well, I can't say I really noticed the weight difference because I didn't push the car that hard. Plus the salesman was riding along, so that didn't help much.

I'd have to say I noticed more chassis stiffness, basically how my car feels with the front & rear STBs. But then again, my 99 has 75K on it, so it might have felt better because it's newer (no little mice running around in it making noise).
