This may seem like a strange question.
How do I manually make the engine run without starting the engine on my RS? I want to move the crankshaft and cams without starting the engine. I once saw a mechanic do it to a honda civic by putting a socket through a hole in the fender and turning so he could adjust the valves.
hope i made sense.

how about leaving it in gear and roll the car. i think that does it. that's what my friend did with his MR2SC.

You can slowly [manually] turn the engine over by the crankshaft pulley nut. It easier if the sparkplugs are out and tranny in neutral.

And yes pushing/pulling it while in gear work also.

every time ive ever had to liine something up like that ive always just put a breaker bar on the pully nut. Works and has the delicate controle you need in some instances. rolling the car in gear is kinda sloppy.
