I installed the proECM chip on thanksgiving, and now the Check Engine Light comes on.

Could they be related?

Do I just ground the proECM to the ECU with a 'vampire' connector?

How do I clear the CEL light?

AutoZone can read and clear the code. As for the ground I would never suggestion a vampire clamp, a nice paint free ground connection or a nice soldered connection are my preferences.

They could be related, best thing to do is get the code pulled and find out what caused/causing it before you make any decisions.

Edit: I see you have an 01, I had steady cel issues from intake and exhaust causing catalytic efficiency below threshold. Then I purchased a Milelimnator from pony express and no more light from that code.

pulled code

I took the car to subaru with 16 miles left on the warranty, and it was the heater circuit in the rear oxygen sensor. They replaced it, and cleared to code. The car actually seems to idle smoother now too, before it was just a little rough.

So it didnt have to do with the CAI or the proECM.

Thanks,

Luke
