Do you use an angle guage or just mark the bolts? Towards the end, the manual says to torque them all “80-90” degrees. Do you do this by approximation or are you using some type of angle readers?

Also, will loosening the bolts to redo the whole torque procedure (if I wasn’t satisfied) mess the gaskets up? In other words, are they crush to fit, one-time-torque only oem gaskets? Thanks. 01’ Legacy.

I just mark the bolts and arrange the socket in such a way that it's an easy approximation. If you follow the torque procedure there's no reason you should have to do it again. If for some reason you do decide to fudged it up you'll be fine getting them completely loose and re-doing it.

An important tip is to ensure that you clean the bolts and the threads in the block thoroughly. Brake clean and an air compressor works well.

The head bolts are reusable, follow the procedure in the service manual. Snap On angle torque wrenches are the best.
