So I did some maintenance on my 98 rs because the idle was really rough replaced pcv and the hoses cleaned iacv and new gasket after the idle was better and improved but the car is accelerating on its own could it be the iacv or something as simple as the throttle cable sticking?

Explain accelerating on its own please.

Is idle normal?
does it randomly accelerate? does the throttle stick? does it do it cold or warm?

Did you mess with the throttle at all? Ive had a similar issue after cleaning the TPS and not reinstalling it correctly.
I didn’t mess with the throttle recently I tried lubing the throttle cable to no luck but I did record a video on what it’s doing
ps the ticking in the video isn’t the car but a steering wheel lock vibrating lol

Does it still do anything weird when the car is warm? Sometimes my cars will idle a little high similar to that and I just ignore it. Seems like something with the IACV if I took an educated guess.

It shouldn't have anything to do with the throttle cable or it would be an issue everytime. The iacv is connected to the throttle body so it effectively bypasses the cable.

Ahhh okay we’ll I tried cleaning the iacv and put a new gasket maybe it just needs to be replaced? And when warm it idles low like below 1000 rpm maybe 700 to 850
ya im going IACV

You have EGR too don't you in 98?
yeah I do I replaced it and the hoses so that’s good I did clean the iacv but maybe it’s too old I have to replace it
