So I'm a week from the deadline on a rally car build.

The car is a 98 RS
The bulkhead harness is from the 98 RS
The engine is an EJ251
The ECU is from a 2000 forester

The car was purchased with a 2.2 in it running off of the OG RS ecu.

The 2.2 manifold wouldn't fit the new ej251 so we got a manifold off a 251 from a 2000 forester.

The 2.2 injectors wont fit the 251 manifold so we went with the forester injectors

The forester injectors are 300cc instead of 285cc so we needed to run the forester ECU.

We used the foresters engine harness and took, from the forester, the entire section from the ECU to the engine harness.

The wiring that was merged was the stuff going from the ECU to the rest of the bulk head harness.

We were attempting to start the car and here's what we got.

We have fuel (pump is running)
Timing is set correctly
Its not a MAF car
were getting spark on cylinders 1 & 2 but not 3 & 4.

When checking the wires going to the coil we've got:
The 12v constant (good)
The ground (good)
The signal wire for cylinders 1 & 2 (good voltage bounces from .6v to 1.4v IIRC)
The signal wire for cylinders 3 & 4 (just sits at .6v)

We checked and have continuity from both signal wires to their proper pins on the ECU.

Both of the signal wires going to the coil and the cam and crank sensors are factory (not merged, not spliced, not cut) connections.

So my question is why dont I have spark on cylinders 3 & 4?
Why is the ECU not telling 3 & 4 to spark?

The 2000 forester ECU (new one) is a JEC unit.
The sticker has a large 1L on it.
then 22611 AG024
then A18-000 D5Q 0710

The 98 RS ECU (old one) is a JEC unit.
The sticker has a large 07 on it.
then 22611 AD810
then A18-000 D52 7528

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody has had an issue where they were only getting spark on 1 & 2? Tried a new crank sensor. Have the correct crank gear. Im running out of ideas.

Ok seriously when all I want is simple information all i can find is huge threads of people solving complex issues like this. Now that I have a complex issue I can't seem to find any of those threads. Someone has to have an idea. Were thinking bad ecu.
