Met with the Midwest rep. from SOA last night to discuss some WRX's for our rally (we are getting 2). Over dinner I had a chance to pic his brain a bit. OK, yes these will just be added to the rumor list, he told me what he knew to be fact, which doesn't mean it wont or hasn't changed. This is the info from the presentation he had seen 3 days prior, here goes:

STi:
1500 per year
6 speed confirmed
4 piston brakes confirmed
17" wheels confirmed
250+ horsepower
Under $30,000

Forrester:
New design debuts at Chicago Autoshow Feb. 2nd
Turbo to follow Next year
No news of the STi Forrester yet

Legacey:
Turbo model next year
No sign of the B4 or the Blitzen

Just wanted to pass this on, please dont flame me.

Turbo and the new design are going to be at the same time for the forrester. (at least that's what they are saying at training)

the leggy turbo and re-design is 2 years away not 1

the Impreza re-design is in 04 for the 05 model ...the WRX sales are getting CRUSHED in Europe so they are changing the body quicker than normal

That Neon does look decent, except for the fact that it is a NEON and it will fall apart. Those are about the most cheaply put together pieces of crap I have ever seen. Sure they are light and pretty fast on an autcross course. They probably are held together with two sided tape and model car cement!

And if I had to make a choice, I would take a WRX any day of the week over that piece of American dung.

I own both. 1999 Neon R/T and a 2000 2.5RS. The Neon has 110k miles and is still quicker than my RS, and hasen't fallen apart yet. My RS however did begin falling apart the day I brought it home, door panels coming loose, and now with 50k miles its a rattle trap, the Neon is still solid as a rock. The Neon's paint isn't all chipped and falling off the front of the car like the RS. The neons stock Alpine based audio system is 10X better than the RS system.

If I had to choose between them I would pick the 2.5RS. Lets face it its a better car, but the Neon does not deserve the beating its getting here today.

I totally forgot to ask about the wagon, all he spoke off was the Sedan, saying things like 1500 the first year, probably one color, with spoiler, under 30, 250+hp "anything less isnt worth it for them to bring over, its to close the the WRX to justify the price".....then I asked about the 17's, 6 speed and brakes..all yes.

heh, sorry guys, but I'll gladly trade in my RS once a redesign comes out...hopefully we see a facelift with the 2004 models (which also means STi) :)
