Well my dad bought a engine for his legacy (2000 legacy sus), and the first engine wouldnt idle right, something with the internals of the engine. So the same guy sent this engine - which looks completely different from the stock engine. Any ideas ? the guy says its out of a 1999 legacy but looks different then the legacys i have seen. The coil pack is mounted on the back of the intake manifold, and the power steering pump is a different style. There is also a bracket on the passenger side head, kinda looks like a turbo would bolt to it. This engine is supposed to be N/A, but I am not 100% sure.

just curious if anyone had any ideas before I drop it into the legacy.

Looks JDM to me. The IAC is on the wrong side too. The easiest fix would be to put the intake manifold from the old motor onto the new motor.....if they're both DOHC.

yes, they are both DOHC -- this engine is going to replace a '00 legacy ej25d (the block is cracked, and keeps over heating.)

other then just swapping the intake manifold, anything else different? I figured this would be a fairly easy swap - just swap intake manifolds and drop it in.

The last one was idling really rough under 2k, but once it was over 2k it was great ... really powerful, kinda felt like it had cams in it.

JDM EJ25 Thats my guess. EJ20G's have coil on plug. K's and 207 (V5-6) have coil packs but are mounted on the top of the intake mani. Check the block number. I bet it's a JDM EJ25. I thought the blocks were the same so swapping everything over should work. Some JDM engines use JDM specific alternator or AC compressors. I forget which. But the bracket is different.

cheers

swapping out the intake wiring harness and Misc brackets are easy. If this wa a turbo motor the compression would be lower and would run but with lees power. There are ever so slight veriations on theses cars but as long as it is the right Phase motor weather its a phase 1 or 2 you would be ok . I purchased a great 2.5 Phase 2 motor from ECS and just had to swap out the top portion and it runs great.
