I do NOT come from a Subaru background.

In fact, I had a Saab before my RS.

I know what you're thinking. Seriously?
Yes. Seriously.

It was an automatic 2004 Saab 9-3ss base model with 181k.
The body roll was insane, everything on it broke, the bills costed $1500+, and after two years of owning the stupid thing, I finally sold it.

What made me interested in RS' you ask?
Well... everything.
I started really getting interested in them fairly recently.
January 2014, to be specific.

And the more research I did on them, the more I realized how AMAZING they are.
They are lightweight.
They are getting rare.
They have insane suspension potential.
And I happen to love the rally history/legacy they have.

Basically, I wanted one. REAL bad.
It took awhile to find an RS that not only was in my budget (5k and under).
But ALSO was the perfect RS for me.
Long story short, it took awhile.

Numerous WTB posts were posted, and crappy RS' passed up before we found THE ONE.
Not that we knew right away. But we had a good feeling.
It was the first RS we decided to actually go look at.
It was a woman-owned and babied BRP RS.

Coupe + 5spd + under 200k + leather interior + clean title

It does NOT get much better than that.
We get a message from the lady to come see the car later that evening, and BOOM! We jumped up and headed to Portland.
An hour and some change later, we arrive.
Now.. Love at first sight DOES in fact exist.
We pull up to the house and I already knew that I wanted to take it home.
A pleasant test drive + chat with the nice owners + a successful transaction and I'm driving my DREAM car home.

Holy crap. I know.

^ Before driving it home!

Congrats!! Took me awhile to find my RS as well. Lots of turds out there haha.
No kidding! The RS tax is real. Finding a quality car for a decent price is basically impossible lol. I sure found a great deal on mine though. Super stoked!

Congrats on the new car! What are your future plans for it?
Well for now I'm just doing little things. Today I painted the fogs yellow, and tomorrow I'll dip my grille and clean the bay out. Long term I plan to throw coils on it, play with my suspension and research my dream setup, get a lower lip, etc. If I keep this car for a few years, I'd love to STi swap it. But that'll be in awhile. Luckily I have time!

Welcome to the subaru world. 2 door brp.. The best
You have one I'm assuming?

Thanks! I appreciate the support.

Welcome to RS25.com

Lots of great info & people here. Goodluck!
I appreciate it. The RS crowd already has me feeling welcomed.

The fun part about getting a "new" car is the little things that need done.

On my Saab, everything was relatively working and if it wasn't, I didn't have the resources to fix it myself.

Where's the fun in that?

Exactly, there is none.

Soooo... this RS.

The dash console lid was gone.

With a little research, we found out that the Forester/Outback dash console lid/vents are compatible.

AHA! Our local wrecking yard had both cars in the correct years, and BOOM!

It was a same day fix. Cheap and fun. Whoop!

^ FIXED! Perfect.

Definitely a nice find! When I got my 99 a few years back the last thing I was going to do was swap it. It took less than a year for it to happen.

FWIW, if the yellow paint for the fogs doesn't work out. Lamin-X make yellow overlays for them that look great!

So as much as I LOVED my clear and massive foglights...

They MUST be yellow.

OMG! You think. She's one of THOSE people.

You're right to think that.

You have to admit..

Yellow fogs + BRP = gorgeous

So here's my process.

^ I'm all about light coats.

^ putting em back in!

^ DONE! Whoop.

Awesome! I can totally relate! Welcome! I got my RS in January and my first mod was yellow fogs too, but vinyl instead. If you need new brakes and don't consider going to STi Brembo's or WRX brakes you can use WRX front and Legacy rear rotors that maintain your stock calipers but use larger diameter rotors. Also, 94-95 Honda Accord rear lip spats fit if you can find them for $20 which save you $140 buying JDM rear spats! If you have any problems post it up and we can help!

+1 for yellow fogs on BRP!

If you go the WRX front brake method though, you need to get the caliper bracket for the WRX. Make sure it's the bracket for the 721 brake pad and not the 929 brake pad that some 02 and most 03-05 WRX's, otherwise you'll have to track down the correct caliper as well.

^ this! great info there. they're about $30ea. and the rotors cost almost the same as stock rotors so it's a worthy upgrade :D

Nice car! glad you got a good car at a good price!
The RS tax is very real... That's why I got an L and used the left over money to convert it.

Nice RS, yellow fogs, fixing things. Coming along good.

And, props to you for being a female and taking pride in your car. I can barely get my girlfriend to change the oil in her Sentra every 7500 miles... or to rotate tires. Had a beg her for the keys last time so I could do it... haha.
