At a recent grand opening of a Performance shop there was a WRX with the WRC package inside. $28,000 for that setup.

My friend has been giving me lip that he does not understand why I bought and like my car better than than the new style. He's like I can't believe you don't like the WRX just cause of the headlights, it has more power.

My response. Yeah well that 10 grand I didn't spend (yet) should/will do alot for my car. I don't understand why you didn't get a Camaro SS seeing how your '97 Mustang GT lost to a new Maxima w/ a child seat in the back.
:biggest:

Oh well I just wanted to rant and up my post count.

Peace!

Indeed, to each his own. The sunroof was something I liked also and that it's a coupe.

The main part of it is that the guy drop 4 grand for a spoiler and rims from the dealer. One thing that caught my eye was that the stock blue paint job looked great. Sort of dark blue one way and light another.

Peace!

The new design has one advantage and one only over the old body style (powertrain excluded) and that is that the chassis is much stiffer.

The old bodystyle has a few advantages: Lighter weight, better handling dynamics, and nicer appearance.

With a little foam and some seam welding the GC8 can be as stiff as, if not stiffer, and with a little boost, it can outrun the new WRX.

To date, only one WRX has beaten me on an autocross course (aside from that time that I ended up with those bizarre alignment settings after hitting a nice leftover from road construction)

North America is the only place that the new body style is selling well. And the new body will be restyled within the next two years. It will still be the same car, but the body will look different. When that happens, we will see a lot of these guys who are praising their WRX's trade up.

but will the RS owners trade up if the looks greatly improve?
If they come out with a coupe, I might consider it.
Subaru is supposed to come out with a new SVX coupe based on the WRX with engines ranging from the EJ20 to the flat-6.

chances are, we'll never see a WRX coupe again. Maybe in the next iteration of Impreza...but that won't be until 2005 or so (from what I've seen).

Anyway, maybe I'll hold off on the RX-8 this summer, and wait for a redesign, and see what happens...

also think of it this way,

for that much $$ the looks shouldn't have to grow on you... it should be bad ass straight outta the box!

Oh and BTW: the only thing that should grow on you should be hair and fungus...;)

No, the foam goes inside the channels in the "frame" of the unibody. Adds a few pounds to the car but stiffens it extremely. I can't remember the web site. Somebody ask Templar, he knows.

You got the car you wanted, so you made a good choice! GC8s are great looking, and handle well.

I was facing the same choice, and I chose the WRX. I don't regret it, because it fits my needs.

Don't worry, be happy!
