Hello everyone. I'm in the market for a new car and have come across a '01 Impreza RS that has had an interesting swap done. I'd like to pick some of the more experianced members brains about this engine.

-Block: EJ257 shortblock
-Heads: EJ25
-Cams: EJ25
-Head Gasket: Cometic Metal Headgasket
-Fuel: Vishnu rails, stainless A/N braided fuel lines in parallel configuration, Aeromotive FPR -Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump, Rochester/Siemens 760cc fuel injectors
-Misc: Unorthodox pulley, Intake manifold has been flipped (for ease of a FMIC?), TWE titanium valve springs and retainers
-Turbo: Precision Turbo SC34: 53 lb/hr, T3/T04S hyrbid

More or less, with an engine that appears to have alot of work done, I'd like to know some of the logic that went behind the work. Are there any precaustions to a setup like this? Reason I'm concerned is because of another thread regarding this particular block. (thread in question)
Also, regarding the turbo: Is this turbo well sized for the engine? I can't tell whats properly sized for a piston engine as my only turbo experiance is on a rotary, and they like larger turbos in comparison.

Thank you for your input!

Looks like a standard upgraded turbo kit motor build. All of those things are safe selections and in the general path of people who have either blown their stock motor or just want to improve upon their turbo kit setup by lowering compression and putting better things in overall.

The turbo is a bit large, but the t3/t04 and wrx td04 are the most common turbos to use in such setups. I think it's well matched to that setup.

The real question is what type of engine management is taking care of all of this?

Do you have any links or pictures of the car to show?
The thread you have in question is more of a very uncommon to rare circumstance because that is not a stock build shortblock, rather it is bought new at a dealership and modified by a shop before it it sent out to customers.

It is most likely that the owner of the car you are looking at just bought a new stock shortblock from subaru and tossed that in, which is a more sensible idea, especially with the setup the car has.

Ok, So I saw the car today and am not set on it. I do know that that specific combination of turbo and engine does have alot of turbo lag. But then again, my last car was built to have very little lag. My search for a 2.5 RS, or possibly another car will continue.
