I just ordered Rota Subzeros 17's, no tires included. Everyone I have spoken too says you can get away with 215/45/17 tires. I called tirerack to place an order and the guy's telling me not to go 215, but instead consider 205/50/17.
I have Sti struts and eiback springs. I think the lowering is about 55mm.

Anybody have any advice

I've got subzero's in 17 and am useing 215/45/17 tires, but I am on the stock suspention now. I have a P1 suspention going in soon but I don't think that there will be any issues with rubbing.

I was running Konis, H&R lowering springs (2 3/4" drop) and Rota Tarmacs with Azenis 225/45/17's and got some rubbing on the rear fender lips. I hammered them flat and had no further problems (basically) from the tires.

I think it depends on the tires as well. I'm on 215/45/17 Bridgestone S03s, and I rubbed like crazy in the rear, and rub in the front under hard turn-in. I had to roll the rear fenders (which I regret in retrospect)
