It's been cold and snowy here in Michigan, and a strange thing started to happen in the morning.

When I start my car, put the car in neutral (I always put my trans. in first gear when I park), and ease off the clutch, the RPM's drop and feels as if it were about to engage into gear. It only does it in the cold, only when it's started. The RPM's drop from 1500 to 1200 and stays at 1200 for a few moments.

I don't know if it has to do with tranny fluid(it's due for a change, I think), or something completely different, or a normal condition.

Thanks in advance.

1.This happens when you first start the car and it's idling, right?
2.If it's idling then you most likely have the car in neutral, right?

If in neutral the tranny's oil viscosity will have no affect on the engine's idle speed because the clutch is not engaged to the engine when in neutral.

Sorry I can't help but your problem is likely elsewhere if 1&2 are correct.
