I thought I solved the problem but I guess not. I was under my car yesterday changing out the Tranny fluid with some RedLine synth and I saw some carbon by my exhaust flange/ball socket. My Random Tec Cat seems to be leaking again. Does anyone know what I should try to solve this? I seem to remember some sort of sealant that I could use on the face of the mid-pipe that could help. The random tec cat has a ball socket type end rather than the donut. This is the connection here.

As you can see I really can't tighten it anymore I've already started bending the flange.

TIA

Yeah - that's easy - go get some Permatex Gold spray-on sealant. It's designed to withstand like 2000 degrees of heat. I used to use it on exhaust manifold gaskets. Good stuff.

Kragen/Checker/Autozone/Pep Boys and they likes should all carry it. Probably $5 - $10 for a can.

Thanks, I'll look for it this week. I knew there was something but I couldn't remember what it was.
