So I took a video to demonstrate what my problem is...

Subaru EJ251 knocking and whining - YouTube

The engine started developing the whining noise about a month ago...

I have tried to take off the accessory belt and AC belt but the whining is still there.

The motor has 10,4000 mile on it right now...

I'm guessing it's a bearing noise... maybe a timing belt pully bearing?
Any thoughts?

Mine sounds pretty similar to yours. I didn't get a chance to look at it yet. Did you figure out what it was?

Last night I noticed that the noise went away after like 20-30 minutes. A bearing somewhere was my first guess. Here's maybe a stupid question: Do bearings perform differently once warmed up?

Figured this out... Faulty AC belt tensioner pulley bearing... Also the alternator is a little bit noisy too but mostly it's the pulley bearing.

That was going to be my guess. Whenever people do belt servicing, they ALWAYS forget to do the tensioners because they think that they "are still good". Glad you fixed the issue!
