Hey gang!
Experiencing some major engine shuttering shifting into 2nd gear under WOT. Not backfiring.
I am thinking fouled plugs, haven’t pulled to check yet.
K&N air filter cleared 100 miles ago.
2000 RS no mods all stock
Run 91 octane ethanol free
217000 miles
heads machined 50000 miles ago, no leaks
What do you all think?

Is the CEL illuminated or blink while the stuttering is happening?

I'd recommend getting rid of the K&N. They create problems. Mostly from people not being educated on their use, people either don't oil them at all, over oil them, and/or not wait for them to dry completely.

If you absolutely need to use a K&N filter for whatever reason granddaddy told you, own two. Keep one on the shelf cleaned and oiled. Every six months swap those babies out. Gives it plenty of time to dry. If you don't allow it to dry completely the water and oil will get in to the intake tract and muck up your sensors.

Paper air filters are what...? $5 and you have to replace them once or year or so? Bet you $10 your butt Dyno wouldn't notice a clean paper filter from a K&N.
