Hello,

Well, I know this is an old topic, but since many of you probably haven't seen it, I thought I'd post it.

I had EBC green stuff pads on my GC8 impreza, equipped with STi 4 piston brakes, and BOZZ SPEED slotted rotors.

The EBC pads warped my rotors within 1,500 miles. I didn't do any hard driving, such as track driving... I did break them in, did everything I was supposed to. I got my rotors replaced, and the same exact thing happened again. That's when I figured out that the pads were to blame. I immediately replaced the pads with BOZZ SPEED race pads, which were supposed to be super abrasive... and yet, they didn't warp my rotors. Makes you wonder what kind of dumb ass's work at the EBC factory.

If I were you, I'd stay away from EBC all together. Get some COBB Tuning pads, as I have had great success with them.

I too had a set of EBCs that warped the rotors. I gathered the threads from the IClub of similar experiences and submited the info as well as offered my pads/rotors for inspection.

To EBC's credit they DID replace the rotors and pads. I have been using EBC reds with total satasfaction.

But WHY, WHYYYYYYY do they keep selling those rotor warping greens! :curse:

Going off memory from a while ago, aren't the reds "race" pads that require heating up before they'll work well?
yes they are but they are just like the cobb pads...they require heating to get to work properly.

I plan on doing the WRX front brake upgrade this spring and i am trying to decide which pads to go with...so far i have looked at KVR Carbon pads and EBC Reds. I want something good for track days and hte cobbs are nice but WAY too pricey for my liking. I don't want a noisey brake pad though. you guys have any personal opinions??

I am running on a recent set of EBC greens. I have had no rotor warping and they do seem to stop well. But damn they dust like nothing I have ever seen.

I am planning on replacing them soon though.

KVR Carbon Fiber Brake Pads...

Well, If you want an excellent front pad for the stock RS 2pot rotors, the KVR Carbon Fibre Brake Pad is the way to go...

It provides an above averager friction surface, extremely rotor friendly, long life, next to nothing dust, and no audible noise...

They were made for the RS as a result of a huge Group Buy that took forever to complete...

Well worth the wait in my opinion...

I have the KVR carbons up front and while they are great for high speed stops and more than adequate for city driving.... They just don't seem to work very well when you have to do alot of low speed brake modulations. Could just be my car though.

They are nice and quiet and produce very little dust.

I had the MetalMasters awhile back, but they squealed horribly and left black dust and melted fibers all over my rims. They didn't work very well cold either.

so the stock pads that the subaru 4 pots come with are crap? Who would i have to go through to get a warrenty replacement.?
They're not crap, just no better than the pads that came on the car. And you don't seriously expect a warranty replacement because of that, do you? If SOA replaces them, you get the exact same pads.

How does it go? A fool is somebody who keeps doing the same thing but expects a different result? :D

Have any of you tried Hawk HP+ pads? I'm looking for new pads for my car, and want to get something other than these eurorotor ones. Wondering what you all would recommend for occasional track use, frequent auto-x use, and daily driving.

Call up SPO Motorsports and get the ones they sell, Eurotor Carbon Kevlar pads. I have them in the front and rear, and they are awesome. My car stops tons better. Up front I have Brembo rotors, and there is quite a bit less dust with those, compared to the rear.

My EBC greens dust like a mf, and squeel like a stuck pig when they're cold, but they stop the car very well and have NOT warped the rotors after plenty of hard miles. Did you guys cut your rotors when you put the pads on? If you cut most rotors too thin they warp VERY quickly, and the newer composite rotors on some vehicles can't be cut (not that anyone's RS has them though).
