I just bought one of the e-bay intakes for my MY99 and IIRC the MY99-98 run lean when used with a short-arm intake such as the weapon-r and AEM. How would I tell with out and air to fuel sensor? What I have in there now is a DIY intake with a ractive cone filter with a 3” going into the air box on the throttle body and It looks fairly ghetto so I bought this until I get the money for the cobb and the time to do some chopping. Is there a real risk?

Do you have exhaust? I think the combo of exhaust and intake will be where you run into trouble. If you do, you can buy a S afc to richen it up a lil' bit. ;)

Borla headers, random tech cat, stromsung mid-pipe and dual-tip stainless. That is the exhaust set-up I bought larrys and your conversion kit for the cobb but never took the plunge for the cobb CAI since I have heard there working on a model for the MY99. is it based on your awesome project? Just checking out my options and since we have a 4-wheel dyno locally hopefully I will get some numbers for everyone. Do you think a TC-II will richen it up enough? Not sure if I want to spring for a S-AFC unless I find a good deal on one >200.00

I don't know if a Torque chip will richen it up enough. I think I asked larry that and he didn't really know.

As far as the intake, I had heard the same thing. That a my98/99 was in the works. Heard this first in June. Called them in August. They said they had plans drawn up, but weren't sure if and when they would get to it. They said they had too hard a time keeping up with the my00/01 intakes to get the MAF version out. That's why I made my own. Got sick of waiting. About the only way you can really see if you are lean, is using A/F, or EGT. I am not too sure how to use these or tune a afc, but I bet the other bulletin board might have some info. ;)

Ain't gonna happen. Don't worry about it. The whole point of the o2 sensor in the FI system is to detect lean or rich conditions and allow the pcm to correct by adding or subtracting fuel from it's alogarithm. If by chance it does run too lean because the ecu doesn't have enough control to overcome a lean condition (about a 100000 to 1 chance of that) it will set a code and the CE light comes on. I suspect that most times when someone has had a lean condition after an intake and exhaust swap, it's because the o2 sensor was damaged in the process.

So I finally put it on. So far I did a ECU reset and drove it about 10 miles banging the redline every couple starts low end didn’t seem to lose to much and the top pulls up to about 5500 RPM’s before tapering off. It is a lot louder than the other intake sounds really mean. I will let you guys know how it goes and try to get some pictures tomorrow

BTW I did my emissions today and passed with having just done and ECU reset and full exhaust.
