did some research and seems like a lot of people are happy with red line oils for the tranny and rear diff ... so i bought some =)

EDIT: Do NOT put Red Line's heavyweight gear oil in your rear diff

thanks! changed the motor, tranny, and rear diff oils today ... i was very surprised at the rear diff oil not only because of its thickness (75W250?!), but also the fact that it was pink ha. just took the car out though, and everything felt a lot smoother. very happy with the results.

*note to anyone changing their rear diff oil with red line, just shove the neck of bottle into the fill hole and squeeze it ... fast and works perfectly

My suspension was pretty shot so I decided to pick up some parts for cheap and fix it up. Just put it in the other day and I am MUCH happier - all of the weird noises have stopped and it is overall a much better ride.

What Went In:
07 WRX struts with 05 STi Springs (224/194 spring rates)
07 WRX Rear Sway Bar (17mm) - didnt put in front one
04 STi Trailing Arms

Old vs. New Pics

The front strut installation went uber smooth, but with the rears I did run into a problem with the bolt pattern not being the same (knew about this going in). Basically, on the newer tophats the bolt that faces the outside of the car has been pulled out more (bolt closest to where it says "4wd out" in pic above). Although I was simply planning on swapping the tophats, my dad suggested we simply drill a hole for the bolt to go through. I was a little skeptical at first, but then figured two engineers could easily do this - and everything worked out. Score.

Like I said above, I didn't put in the WRX front sway bar. It didnt seem to fit right, but it was only a 20mm compared to the stock 19mm so I didn't really care. Maybe I will mess around with it later.

Rex bar will fit, the endlinks just sit at an angle. WRX wagon bar will fit no problem.

The WRX sedan bar won't fit because the WRX's have a wider track than the RS's.

The reason the RS bar doesn't fit well on turbo is because the WRX bar has a bend to clear the DP. (see attachment)
