Do 2000 RS's have a low fuel idiot light?

And if they do, how many gallons are left in the tank once it comes on?

On the subject, how many gallons do our tanks hold anyway....

I bought a 2000 RSt last weekend and it did not come with an owners manual....

Thanks for the info....

Yes, when they come on it usually means you need about 13.8 gallons of fuel to fill er up. the tank size is 15.9 or 14.9 I think.

thank you, thank you very much.....

If anyone can confirm that total tank capasity number it would be great...

15.9. the dummy light comes on around 13-14 gal. empty. i usually fill up around 1/4, which is about 10 gal. which makes mpg calculations nice and easy :)
What they said!:D
:stupid:
yep and when it comes on....you will probably need a new fuel pump after you fill your tank -=)...found that out a hard way when my guages didnt read right....'it said i had a 1/4 tank but the light came on.....im no mechanic but i believe that means there is next to no gas in there' said me...a week before 'ok we fixed all of your guages and are good to go'....said the man at el cajon subaru in san diego....so a week later i got a new fuel pump installed.....and then another week later they put in a new guage cluster.....soooo now i have 10,000 instead of 13,000 wooo hoo!!!!! new car all over again ahhaha it was breaking the 1,000 barrier 2 times!

that's strange. usually the fuel light is designed to come on with a couple of gallons of "reserve" gas left, just so that exactly what you described doesn't happen. oh well, that's what warrenties are for!
For those of you in metric lands, it comes on with 10 litres left in the tank (for me, about another 100km worth of driving generally) :)
there's a dummy light? where is it? i never seen it before. i always thought subaru was gonna go cheap and leave that out...

Its this funny looking yellow gas pump lights up under the speedo
and depending on how you drive and the amount of fuel slosh going on, the light can fade in and out... just be worried when it doesn't fade out again...:happynow:
I usually let mine drop below the "E" ... just cause I get lazy, plus I just wanted to test it one time. :) The most that has ever gone in my tank on a refill is 15.020 gallons.
I heard that it was bad to let the gas tank fall below 1/4 full
because junk that collects on the bottom of the gas tank gets picked up into the engine. any truth to that?

that is exactly right. and god help you if you get so low that air gets in the fuel lines. knock, knock. who's there? lean. lean who? lean misfire just ate your piston rings.
yeah that and .....your fuel pump goes dead hahah....its kinda fun to drive when your fuel pump is dying

why does the fuel pump die when you run out of gas?
