Hey all,

I had my winshield replaced a while back and they kinda [email protected]#ked up the horizontal weatherstrip across the top of the windshield so that it doesn't lie flat against the glass and causes a lot of windnoise on the freeway. It was a while back and I don't really want to deal w/ them again, so I don't want to contact them about fixing it.

Is there a way to replace this trim across the top of the windshield w/o damaging the windshield or denting/scratching the roof metal near the trim?

Thanks.

no diy on this one

your windsheild sits on bed of urethane wich is stuck to a pinchweld flange,

the wheatherstripping is pushed into the wet urethane either after, or with the windsheild..

it is completely stuck into this now hardened material...

it needs to be cut out, trimmed and reinstalled 30-45 minute glassguy job

they need to fix it, they fucked it up...

Bump - thanks to Matb for finding that thread!

I was curious if anyone either knew the part number on those little windshield clips or knew if they were usable from pick-a-part if you could find in OK condition?

The clips along the sides are reusable, if you remove the trim right.
I swapped from OBS roof rack trim to L non-roof rack trim.
Coupes/sedans may be different than the wagons, but on the wagons;
You start by pulling the trim off at the bottom of the windshield, kind of at an angle to help it pop out.
Once you reach the different style clips, you have to pull the trim lengthwise to not break the upper clips.

Using that technique, i was able to get enough clips to install the longer L trim, as well as have a handful of extras.
I also have to install my upper trim. When i removed it to paint, it bent.
Ill probably end up taking my dremel tool and slowly remove the windshield sealer until the trim fits back in, then add a bunch of sealer.

This is an old thread but still pops up as one of the first results with a google search. Figured I might help some people out by adding the part numbers. These should be for all coupes and sedans I believe.

And in case anyone wants to complete everything, this is the wiper cowl windshield edge seal for an 02-07, which works on the GC too.
