Thanks guys. So I was very excited at my road course times considering I only normally auto-x, but after seeing the posted lap times of the more experienced drivers I am shocked.

I looked around and found some youtube runs and am blown away with how much faster these guys can corner. What am I doing wrong? I was following their lines, but just don't have the grip. Is it alignment? Tires? Tire pressure?

I thought new RE71Rs were good enough, I ran 26 psi front which heated up to about 29 psi by the end of each session. Maybe my lack of aero and horrible weight balance, but some of these fast cars were STOCK.

Obviously I have plenty to learn and more seat time is always needed, but man. These two badass SCCA Miatas were killing almost everybody and although they were loud, they had no power... So I know my power level isn't the issue, it's definitely the corners. Am I just handicapped with my suspension geometry? Are my coilovers too stiff? Stock WRX rollbars too small? HELP!

More seat time as you said. Learning how to throw your weight around, aggressive alignment (a good base is -3/-2.5 camber), learn the car and your boundaries, and honestly, that could mean fish tailing it a bit and learning to correct it. One beginner issue as well is as soon as the back end slips, they let off the gas. This will make you snap in the other direction causing you to loose control. She starts going, you let up a tiny bit until she bites again, then you can slow your roll a bit more and catch your nerves haha.

I uploaded a quick update for my friends but I'll throw it here too.


I plan on removing the rear section of my exhaust for a few reasons.
1 - The car is way too quiet at the road course :)
2 - Weight reduction Bro.
3 - I plan on making a rear diffuser out of carbon fiber. The exhaust is in the way. I have this whole aero plan but who knows how long it will take to achieve as I have limited time and funds ever since I bought my new house.

That being said, I worry about the exhaust gas interference/additional air flow ruining that idea so I might have to have an ovaled side exit :( or MAYBE have the piping run through the car and out the side or even rear of the car, that'd be neat!

Since it currently has a custom rotated turbo downpipe that is longer than normal, technically I just stopped it at the end of the downpipe a little after the wwideband o2. Not sure if this will be too loud at WOT or if it will affect the o2 reading. My guess is no/IDGAF.



Also, the rear subframe is dropped so I can drop the fuel tank as it leaks real bad - most likely from my halfass evap delete or maybe a cut return line or something. I also plan on doing the outrigger bushings? - The ones that are at the end of the T bar for the diff.

I have a severly lightened (I have a lot to update on my thread:) ) and stiffer car than stock and have a DSS 1 pc carbon driveshaft. The vibration at 75+ is horrific. I've rotated 90 degrees over and over. Thoughts?

I should add that the differential t-brace weights were stripped off - do those soak up that vibration?

I am having a hard time deciding what to do regrading power since my EJ22E is getting tired. It doesn't rev above 6k and I'd like a screamer because I have 4.44 gears. I could throw some proper injectors at it, E85 and a tune, but I am pretty sure the firmware issue with my ECU bricked it. Also I spent a lot to have that 5 speed DCCD and I'd hate to do the full swap to a 5x114.3 6 spd because of cost.

I have spare blocks and could maybe rebuild one with forged internals but I would still be SOHC idk... Still would need a standalone. A V7+ 207 would be fine with the 6 speed but they want like 10k plus a wire merge.

Would I even need to merge since the only electrical in my car is F/R lights, blinkers, Fuel, and ABS?? I am so bad at wiring lol. Other than deleting it all. Going to a cool racecar solidstate thing would be cool though.

Aero is next too since I have grip issues and lift the rear end because it's 840 fucking lbs. Kinda tired of throwing money at it because I don't ever daily it lol - just race against myself.

Thoughts?

Edit: Oh and this site fucking blows now. Can't change the noob settings to have longer pages and my bookmarked pages are gone... And it's slow as balls.

Don't be shy about turboing a SOHC. ASF Machine managed to put over 600hp to the wheels on a 2.37 SOHC motor.

I got new wheel bearing so I could install ARP extended studs and these badass burnt titanium lug nuts


I bought a Killer B low mount header (321 stainless!) and what turned out to be a knock off TiAL wastegate. I ended up buying a legit one after.


Mock up and making room with more cutting:



I welded together a bash bar to mount stuff and it really tucks in my bumper!



Scored some ARP rod bolts for cheap. I got EJ255/257 rods from a free 2008 WRX block :)



Kind of fast forward - I rebuild my EJ22E. .0015 dead on on all 4 rods and .002 on the crank, but the crank wasn't torqued and the bolts weren't oiled when I measured. I think they're tighter now.

Lol that's one of the reasons I am redoing things. Engine ran great though. I think I sucked up oil from a huge leak I had at the road course.
