I see lots of posts about WRX drivers having problems shifting into 1st from stops and what not.

Anyone having these problems with the 2002 RS/TS ? Are the WRX and RS/TS transmission different?

mine doesn't go in tilla bout 10...it's normal...they aren't supposed to be stuffed back into gear at those speeds...but i don't complain about it.

I agree with Hndatch627, just be smooth and don't force anything when you shift and you'll be fine. The manual tranny does not like being forced into any gear, especially 1st or R. I think some of the WRX people are having trouble because they aren't being patient and are over muscling the shifter. Happy motoring!!!!!

Well actually i've had no problems shifting.

I was just wondering if this was a legit problem with the WRX's (the fuss seems to have died down though on i-club though), and if it was how come the 02 RS's aren't similarly affected?

I think driving style may be causing all the fuss...

What you may want to try is shifting into 3rd first and then into 1st. I have a 2001 and sometimes when I try and go into first it just doesnt go (its stubborn). If that doesnt work, try to double clutch, that also works. And if that doesnt work you can try and double clutch into 3rd and then double clutch into 1st.
