DIY CARPET DYE
^^^^^^^^^^

I only recommend dying the same color, or black...

1. follow the DIY carpet shampoo then move on...
http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27444

2. after somewhat dry from shampooing, mask off any console, or kick panels that run all the way up to the carpet

3. use a carpet brush to spread, and work in the dye as you spray it on...
allow the carpet to be slightly damp.. this will help work in the dye

4. spray to blend out stains, or completely change the color of the carpet to black... this may take a while, and several cans of dye..

5. dry the carpet with the heater blowing on the floor after you've completed...

6. it will be a little crispy after completely drying..
brush it, and vacuum again

happy huffing

Any particular kind/brand dye you recommend? Just that carpet/vinyl dye in a spray can at the auto parts store?

Edit: Just noticed we have a "Detailing" section now. Nice.

Friend of mine just pulled the carpet hung it up on on the clothes line put RIT dye in a spray bottle and soaked it. Let it dry in the sun sprayed it again and it looked really good. He went from light tan to black and it was very homogenous in color.

cheers

What about dyeing floor mats? seems like it should be pretty much the same procedure. I would love black rugs...I guess as far as masking just do the outer rim thing and the 2.5rs logo?
