Well,
Im good with my power mods, 04 STi Swap w/ 6spd and R180, so I turned to the interior and had to dress it up a bit. Decided to go with a CARPC, w/ a 7" Lilliput Transflective Touch Screen, 120GB Hard Drive, 1GB Ram, Navi, Bluetooth w/mic, WiFi, and a custom front bezel to relocate the HVAC controls. The computer runs on a Windows XP operating system with the Centrafuse Interface. I was able to customize the back splash with a logo I found.
We were able to relocate the HVAC controls to the bottom of the Double Din slot by lots of fabrication of the front bezel.
Will at Carpc4u.com hooked me up big time!
Pictures taken before HVAC controls reinstalled.
New pictures to come
This is how it looks:

Very nice work! How's the viewing angle with the screen down that low?
I've been designing and piecing my carpc now for over a freakin' year. Sheesh.
I still can't decide if I want to put my screen where you have yours, or with a single DIN pullout where the center gauge pod goes.

Since its the transflective screen, its still great quality during the day!
I would prefer to have it near where the center vents are, but thats damned near impossible. Plus the current location is less noticeable by those damned robber foolios!

I had thought about relocating the hvac controls like you did when I installed my carputer, but figured it wasn't worth the effort to move the screen up 2.5". Instead, I stuck a graphic VFD up above the vents where your gauges are to display song info and such. Glancing down at the screen to see what song was playing is a bit hairy.

I ended up fabbing up a bezel so my 8" lilliput would fit, so I guess I didn't really put any less effort in it than you did. Yours looks great too

Hey, what did you choose for a MB/CPU Combo? And, what video chipset is being used? And, finally, what resolution are you driving your screen at? I'm finding it difficult to find a good mini-ITX combo that has an onboard video chipset that can do the native 800x480 resolution of most of the 7" screens.

Motherboard is a VIA MII @ 1.2GHz with onboard video. Resolution being used is 800x600. The screens out there support the resolution you’re looking for, but most boards don’t. I would suggest that you just use 800x600, it’s perfectly fine for a 7” screen.

Hopefully we can get more and better pics of his car and the setup later. The computer is a VoomPC V1 and sits under the passenger seat. Centrafuse is a great program and easy to use. When ever you’re ready for your setup, let me know :)
