Borla Gen 4 vs. Gen 3

Well, Borla finally got my warranty replacement header to me. My previous Gen.3 had a pencil sized HOLE in it, and a crake the was so bad it would rattle/vibrate against the rest of the header making my car sound like a riced out honda..
The bends, welds and finish of the new Gen. 4 are MUCH better. The fit is damn near factory (as compared to the 6 hour install of the Gen.3)....
The Gen.4 lacks the support "strap" that connects the tubes together, this strap would cause the cracks due to thermal expansion so Borla finally just removed it and they are just as strong with out it.

So, if you have a cracked Borla, call them and have them send you a Gen.4...its worth it.

Did you happen to take some pics before the install? Just wondering if the Borla headers I have sitting in the garage are G4 or G3. Thanks!
I bought my header used from someone else. I believe it has finally cracked. Would they warranty this?
Look under your car on the side where the tubes run back to the cat..if it has a flat metal plate welded to the two tubes in between the head and the cat its a Gen.3 or older. If there is NO plate on the headers then its a Gen.4

As for your warranty question, call Borla and ask them...I "think" you have to be the original owner for the warranty to work..
The Gen 4 headers didnt have the piece of metal between the too tubes pictured here. Mine cracked and were replaced quickly by borla so no complaints here.

thats the piece I refer to...mine actually broke the tube so it was only held on by one side weld, I basically had a 3" hole in mine...
Thanks guys, that's awesome. I'm gonna be sure to check the next time I go to my tuner.

Same Here
Will the Generation 4 Header fit the new 2002 RS? Are there still check engine light issues?
So, does that mean that the borla header that Cobb is selling is a gen 4. Cuz if you look at the pic they have posted, it does not have that piece of metal between the tubes.

For that matter, what about the version that Larry Ganz (www.imprezars.com) sells. Or is it safe to assume that everyone is selling the gen 4 now
