I know that sometimes when I search for info or a specific term (even in advanced search) on RS25's forums, I sometimes don't get what I'm looking for (or I get too much because the search function picked up unrelated posts with similar words). This results in me having to make a new post about it and possibly get one of these answers:

" try searching, *insert insult here* "
" ugh, this has been covered already "
" *insert link to search function* "

haha... no, seriously, I love this site and all it's members!

But anyway, I found that using google's site search is a lot easier for me so I figured I'd share the info with those seeking information on RS25.

Basically, you go to google and type this in the search box:

site:rs25.com "whatever phrase or word/words you want"

For example, If I want to learn about windshield wiper blades, I would type this into google:

site:rs25.com "wiper blades"

And, I can even get advanced and combine terms for a more specific search, so, for example, lets say I wanted to know what the part numbers for header gaskets were. I would type this into google:

site:rs25.com "header gasket"+"part number"

...and it finds the exact posts that answer that question. I lie to you not! Try it.

Well, that's my contribution. I hope this helps someone out there

I've used that site: clause in google before. It does indeed work well. Works great for other sites besides rs25.com too. The only time it fails is when the term shows up in too many sub-forums I don't want.
Actually, that's mostly a problem on NASIOC. Search for Anything on NASIOC using the google search, and you'll get 70% posts from the classifieds, 25% posts from OT, and 5% from what you want.
That's when the RS25.com search with a specific sub-form is better.

Yeah, actually... I really do like the specific forum search option of RS25 and NASIOC... I guess my title should say "best way to search RS25 when you don't know what forum to look in"

That's usually my issue... sometimes I'm not sure if my questions are N/A tuning related or transmission related, etc...
