Drove out to Sauvie's Island today. The car is filthy and I was hoping to make it more so.. didn't really find any fun puddles or dirt haha.

My camera/editing skills have room to improve, ha.

Drove 200 miles to pick this up. Very excited to eventually paint it..
Along with the other parts...

Things waiting for paint:
v6 grille
bumper & spats
hood scoop
vents

Things needing to be installed:
WRX rear sway bar
JDM bumper
OEM pink star badge

Maybe after we're finished moving things will get done.. But most likely not til summer.

Let's see.. My boyfriend sold his GF8 on Christmas Eve :( but we got a pretty killer deal on a 2013 BRZ from my old work.

We packed all our stuff up in a PODS container and lived on an air mattress for a few days. Before we left, my buddy gave me his fog light covers. For non OEM, they're not bad. We also installed the WRX rear sway bar and some new Kenwood speakers for the rear.

It took us 13 hours to drive 101 from Portland to San Jose, CA. The sights were amazing, but sadly we didn't take any photos.

Another big bummer.. we went out to dinner on New Years and I somehow lost my wallet from the 15 steps to and from the car. I didn't realize it was gone until the next morning and couldn't find it anywhere at home or the restaurant. It sucks because I have to replace my license and to do that, I need to get a CA one and take a drivers test (yeah I know I would have to do that anyway, but I was hoping to postpone it for a bit).. and pay taxes on my car. :stafiseiz I'm REALLY hoping a good samaritan found my wallet and mailed it to my old address in Oregon. My brother took over our apartment, so we'll see if it shows up!

On a positive note, at least the car looks great in the sunny weather!

Oh, I also just sent funds for some replica 22b vents. Once I get all my ID/debit & credit cards situated, I'll find a good body shop to fix my rust and paint all the parts.

Definitely a big relief to sell the GF8 but I'll miss her for sure. So much fun to drive!

I'm very happy the car made it down with no issues whatsoever! A buddy drove it part of the way and I think he had some fun with her, haha. Needless to say, I had some fun with the BRZ too ;)

Thank you! I actually use a DSLR and edited the photos. Appreciate the compliments!

My 22b vents arrived the other day, wee! Today I spent 2.5 hours at the DMV to become a legal driver again too.

Other than that, I drove my car around today and when I parked I got some sweet smoke spewing out of the hood. I'm assuming it's the steering fluid leaking. So now I'm on the hunt for a 2004 STi steering rack & pinion, linkage and column to put into my car. I'm hoping to keep the costs "low" and find all the parts I need locally. Fingers crossed!

Sweet!

Any particular reason for the STi rack and not just a stock replacement? You'll have to modify your steering column link in order to connect the GD rack to the GC column. Either that, or swap out your steering column with one from a GD. L&E makes sells the GC to GD column for $115 just in case.

I may as well upgrade if I'm taking it out anyway. The plan is to get the whole thing for an "easy" swap. Thanks for the info on L&E! We'll see though, not many hits on people that have a spare one to sell haha. I may have to look for a stock one.

Also the GD STi steering rack doesn't bolt up to our N/A front crossmember! If it did then Id be enjoying some quick rack goodness. :(

I had read that the 04 rack does.. I may need to look into that once more to be sure.

I've owned an RS with the stock rack and one with an STi rack. If you're DD-ing the car, I'd stay stock. Your turning radius will increase with the STi rack. It's not unbearable but it is noticeable. The increase in rack speed is negated by the increase in turning radius IMO for a DD. Obviously it's your car so don't let me sway you either way, just wanted to throw in my experience with both.

I really appreciate the input! While I'm attracted to the response of the STi rack, I do like my current turning radius. We'll see what I can even find haha.

On a whim, I took the car to Maaco to get an estimate on my rust. He quoted me $778 for a stage 1 repaint and repair to the rust/chips/dings blah blah.. but, it's Maaco.. sooo.. Probably not gonna go that route.

There's a local shop in Burlingame, 5Fifteen Auto Body, that was recommended so I'll take it to them for an estimate sometime next week. I don't NEED a full repaint right now.. although it would definitely be nice.

Also, ever since I got to California, the fuel nozzle can no longer be left to fill the tank by itself. It just pops out and sprays fuel all over the car. :curse: I'm guessing it's not venting any pressure out while it's fueling. I have to stand there and hold it on; with my Oregon plates, it looks like I don't know how to fuel my car, haha. It's just weird that I never had this problem in Washington or Oregon.

Other than that, I've purchased a JDM red hazard switch from JDMGary and put on my pink star badge. I'll get my WRX intermittent wiper installed after class next week as well.
