If you have them, is your wind noise gone? People always say that wind noise is caused by our mirrors, but I don't think so. Some cars have the same design but no wind noise. I blame the stupid frameless windows. Feel free to post pics if you have them also. ;)

"stupid frameless windows"?

Gah!!

Heresy!!!
:boxer:

The new IMpreza's have frameless windows, and they're quieter. Take a ride in someone's new-style Imp, and you'll see what I mean. I think it's just that our car was a little rough around the edges luxury-wise, because it's the first-generation, a new design and all. And I love it!!!

^ Hmm, that's true.. Now I have no idea where all the wind noise is coming from! I PMed adamsrs and he said the aero mirrors didn't make any difference for wind noise. So let's see, it's not the mirrors and it's not the windows... What in the world causes our awful wind noises?! It's pretty f'in loud on the freeway at 80. :curse: Anyone fix there wind noises?

It's probably just the car. I bet the glass is a little thinner than on some cars (saves weight). Isn't there a little lip around the windshield? I don't pay it much attention. My fan makes a more irritating noise anyway.

I read somewhere that the GC8 RS bodystyle has poor aerodynamics. maybe that's the cause of the wind noise.
Well, they are about as aerodynamic as a snowplow! I'm going to have to say the noise is caused by the frameless windows, though. When you get going fast, some frameless windows have a tendancy to start pulling away from the car due to the vacuum affect of the air rushing across the glass. I remember one speed test that Road & Trach did with a previous generation Corvette, the windows pulled out so far at really high speeds that there was a gap big enough to stick a finger through. If this is happening, there will be more little spaces for the wind to make the noise. I've personally never really noticed the wind noise, but, then again, this is one of the quietest cars I've ever had:eek: Scary, huh?

So, these thingies around the window might help? I remember someone had one on their black GC8 on the other club. Anyone had experience with it? I wonder how it works. If it is on the window, then the window wouldn't roll down, and if it is on the door, then the door wouldn't be able to open... HondaH8er, were you driving domestics before? I used to drive a 92 Camry and my mom has a CRV, those are sooo quiet. :) Maybe I should just live with the wind noise, I already have rattling and squeaking anyways. :p

i think it's the sunroof. when i open it up just a tad the wind noise changes and when i shut it it get louder. maybe get a sunroof wind thingy for the front of it. ?

I've got one of those - it's in my garage sitting in the corner. I had it on when I bought the car, but took it off to install my roof rack. Guess what. No noticeable difference in noise. Plus it blocks half of the sunroof opening. That said, $35 shipped to your door and it's yours. :D
