Advice on road trip / precaution (need help)

Hey guys so recently swapped my 99rs with a ej205 built with forged internals and a vf48 turbo, stock heads. I have a 05 sti tranny swap but have not had the time and will not have the time for at least 4 months. My car will be back from tuning soon. So I’m about to go on a road trip Vancouver to Calgary and back (930km each way). I was wondering what you guys thought about taking the Subie for the trip. What I’m worrying about is the 5 speed, there’s no real issues with it except for a little synchro wear in gear 2 and 4. Do you guys think this an ok risk to take i will be doing my best to stay out of boost when shifting.

Drive it like a glass house and you'll probably be fine.

So...I'll risk ridicule. Couldn't you just:
1. Have the tuner give you a WG tune (or whatever low boost is)
2. Run WG boost by a simple vac line re-route

And pretty sure that unless you're somehow avoiding all the mountain ranges (and their passes) on TC-1 staying out of boost will be....a challenge.

Reference> My '98 Forester NA-T has 255K on the original 5-speed and has seen 200-250HP w/out issue. (I don't launch it...never ever.)

Youll be fine, i regilarly did 5+hr drives in my swapped car. I took a RS with 280k miles on it across the US, and Id drive it back too.

Don't launch 1st gear and dont fuck up real bad on your shifts into 2nd and 4th gear and it'll be just fine with no surprises.

You’ll be fine highway miles. Even if you did get crazy and blow a gear the other gears should still work. My experience blowing 5 speeds is they strip the teeth in whatever gear you blow and you can still use the other gears.
