Finally got to bring her home! I couldn’t be happier. Every decision made was the right one. This thing is healthy as can be! I can’t thank Rich Hamersly at Flat Four Specialties enough for his time and dedication to this build. It makes it even better that he enjoyed doing it. Communication was on point, we responded to each other within minutes every step of the way. A 205 in a coupe feels so different compared to a sedan, you know, the few hundred pound difference. The exhaust sounds wonderful. Nice deep idle, crackly off throttle, not too much of a drone. I don’t regret going catless one bit. The cobb intake sounds great in this cold weather. It paired with the bpv sound great together. I can’t wait to get some time in the chariot!

Thanks man, and thank you very much for all your help. You were a big part whether you realize it or not. Just gotta order a new 98 2.5rs condenser and I’ll be set in the spring!

Did one tiny modification yesterday. I had a gloss black leather knob with this orange-red stitching that looked horrific to me. I sourced this all black knob on marketplace and I’m glad. Looks much better.

I believe the leather shifter boot from a 3rd gen Legacy (I may have the wrong generation here) will fit pretty well if you want to ditch the rubber accordion thing. I had one before I swapped in a GD center console, really classes the place up imo.

So one feature that could not happen immediately was the spoiler swap. After pulling both the low and high spoilers, the harness lengths differed too much to just make the low spoiler harness work. The one that was attached to the high spoiler was cut for some reason, which is why it couldn’t work right away.

Rather than just splice together something, I wanted to just find another oem high rise harness, which I finally did from my buddy Doug. This is his sweet coupe!

Anyway, this snowstorm was the perfect time to screw around with this.

I've gotten a little spotty on here, sorry about that ya'll! I've got 200 miles on the build so far and I freakin love it more every day. One major thing I do absolutely regret is wasting all the time to make these very used RCE yellow springs work. The ride is terrible and everything Rich warned me they'd be. That along with 150k struts. Tough lesson (on my back) learned. I also have learned that I dislike the shape of the factory shift knob, so I'm going to be changing that up to something shorter and rounder for sure.

Got over a major hurdle today though. Well, until it was completed it felt major, since I had no idea what was involved with Cobb AP tuning. Man, they make these things Barney style for us Marines. I love it.

I've had a CEL on since I brought the car home, which is for the extra sensor in the fuel tank on the wrx. I kept my impreza tank, so it was showing P1446.

Well, I got in contact with Anthony Berry over at Drunkmann Tuning and he did not disappoint. Within minutes he was able to send me Cobb OTS stg 2 91 and 93 maps with the code deleted. Presto! I am elated at how simple it was and that I can now take it in for inspection and emissions, which I have planned for this week, then I can go get a proper alignment finally.

Oh also, I got some more pieces to the interior. Saw some Grey 98-01 sun visors show up on eBay in very good condition and didn't even hesitate on purchasing them. Looking forward to swapping the tan ones out for these!

Passed inspection AND emissions with flying colors today! So pumped I can rip on this without fear now! After the alignment of course.

Also treated to a full tank of gas. Let’s see how the 93 map compares. Before Rich gave me the car back, it was doing the annoying clicking at the gas pump like these do after time. Replacement charcoal canister about 1/4 the weight and good as new👍🏼I forget if I’ve mentioned that already or not.

Got my same parking spot at work up close and personal👍🏼Can we apply social distancing to parking, but indefinitely? That would be great.

The best thing about the automotive community is becoming friends with complete strangers. My best friendships long time and current come from either the military, the car community, or my wife. I made a good friend a few months back that offered some input on this build and I now have his tall coupe spoiler on my car. Anyway, PMP got in a 2.5rs coupe a few months back (under 90 min from me) and I ended up getting there to pick up some oem leather interior to hold for him until he could get down here from upstate NY. He finally made the trek down the other day and didn’t come empty handed.

First off, I didn’t expect a dime from him to hold the interior. PMP is close by to family and I had to go up that way anyway. That’s not an inconvenience for me. We had been chatting about shift knobs and I told him how I really don’t care for the shape of the oem shifter or the taller momo one I tried as well. I was looking at the kartboy delrin knob and was about to pull the trigger when this dude shows up for the interior the other day and hands this oem knob to me and says keep it. That is what makes the car community so great. Gestures like that. I told him this will be the only sti-badged part on this car😜. I have the sti steering rack and up pipe and planning the vf39, 565ccs and sti tmic so eh, it’s partway there😂

Looked better through my eyes than it does in the picture. Had a CEL pop up the other day: P0456. Just gonna go ahead and do the 2.2ohm resistor mod. Where do you find them these days? I always bought them from Radioshack back in the day.

Oh yeah, traded in the camry the other day for this 14 Tundra with 39k miles. Best decision ever. Haven’t had a truck in a decade. I got a surprising amount of use out of the camry in a year, but the truck will haul car parts so much better!

It’s getting warmer! Probably 1-2 snowstorms left yet, but this warmer weather is feeling good! Traded in the camry recently for this mint Tundra. 2014 with 39k miles from VA. I couldn’t say no! Going to be so much easier to transport car parts now!

Planning out the next steps for the build:
98 2.5rs AC condenser (still trying to source)
KYB AGX with eibach p11L’s (hopefully, if I can get in on 2pot’s group buy)
VF39
16 sti tmic
Wrx dark blues
Pro-tune
Jdm in-fender reservoir (thanks to my buddy Kaleb yet again!)

It was a nice breather after that hefty bill, but it’s time to start getting this thing right.
