Just curious..as I know 97 subarus are the start of phase II motors..as far as ej22's go. i know the 2.5 was still phase 1 however what about the ej18? im assuming it still is phase I but im not sure.

I believe all of the 1.8L were non interference motors.

Actually pre-96 EJ sohc engines were all non-interference. So any 1.8L in that time is non-interference meaning it is phase-I.
