2nd gear pics... RS-T fun (large pic)

Figured I'd re-document this for this board. Hit 2nd gear in my RS-T nice and easy and got a nice grinding. No... I'm only running 3psi... yup, stripped to hell. :(

Fixed now, but it definitely was a sad day. No car for a month and a half while repairs commenced. :(

Forgot to edit that pic, but that last image is a shift rod, not a fork. I did have a fork cracked as well though. :(

Wow, that is some serious damage. I don't want to know how much it cost cause I wish I had the money to buy those toys in the first place!

...reason number 30421 why I won't turbo my RS :)
biggest reason Im selling my kit..I cant afford that^^^^
only running 3lbs? Damn... you upgrade the tranny, or replace w/ stock?
yeah but guys NA boys are breaking 2nd as well...Subaru is blaming the clutches. Somehow i think it's their way around major lawsuits and fixing trannies seeing as how even cars w/o aftermarket clutches break em.

It was replaced with stock components. Was just the most cost-effecient way at the time. Unfortunately now I've got a little screwy 3rd gear synchro and it grinds randomly (talk about sucks... never sure if it's ok or not until you try it). :-/
8Complex- Sorry if im rude, but how much did you spend to fix your tranny? If I did that with a turbo, I think I would just pull my kit off and take it to Subaru and say, "Yep, I was driving and the damn thing just stripped."

8, what clutch were you using on your car when it broke?

Yeah, but they know me too well. I would have to drive 500 miles before I was out of district enough to not have the rep. know who's car he was looking at. They probably would've called it abuse anyway.

And actually, I can't really reveal what I paid to fix it because I had to do some bargaining to get it taken care of. Still took 6 weeks to fix... damn national backordered parts. :-/

tulit - ACT, of course. Since then I've learned to drive it correctly though, so no more gear worries for now. :)
Im still curious as to whether or not clutches play a part in blown tranmissions. Almsot every tranmission ive heard of blowing is running an ACT clutch, but then again most people use the ACT clutch, so its hard to say.

I have clutchmaster stage III to put on my car. Lets see what happens ;) It supposed to be nicer to the tranmission than ACT.
Well, they do and they don't. The ACT happens to have a very stiff pressure plate, which grabs DAMN good. The trick is to shift without shocking the trans too bad. When I'm hard under boost, I find myself almost slipping it into the nest gear to stop it from shocking anything.

Of course, after you get so powerful it'll just snap trans's from hitting the gas... THAT would be bad.
Ouch! Kids, don;t try this at home!

i say you sell an organ or 4 and get an STi 6 speed :biggest:

im planning to turbo my RS in a few months but i was wondering if there are any clutches that don't grip like mad? something that will slip like the stock one but will handle a little more HP.
Killer,

Clutchmaster is supposed to do that. Thats what im trying (since it came with my turbo kit anyways). Lets hope for the best ;)
anyone know about the Exedy street clutch? i was planning on getting one from Larry with the lightened flywheel. also, where is a good place to get a clutchmaster if i decide to go that route.
The only place i can think of off the top of my head is teaguesauto

im sure theres other. any clutch master dealer should be able to get them.
the exedy is supposedly the stock pressure plate with a LITTLE more holding power and a stickier compound disk...the clutchmasters is the factory pressure plate with better clutch disk.
i don't know... i got the clutchmaster Stg 3 and it holds great but allows for huge slipping when i want to... mmmm... but there is that whining i have in 1st.... i'm scared...

Do you have any more info on this? Is that common even for NA? How long did their gears last? Were they trying to no-clutch-shift or something? That worries me...
