Looooong thanksgiving weekend..
Got whole 3 days in !!!


Fuel inlet was fabbed.
With some hacking/welding, use of sti and gc8 necks.


Had to be lightened.. tested few ideas for cheap dimple dies.


Test fitted with the overpriced fuel door.


Day2 and the 2nd quarter was glued in and riveted !!!!


Sanded and all pretty Left quarter.


Test fitting the front fender and door sill


No kit is perfect.. this one has a somewhat weird gap...


Door sill clamp time... all glued and riveted.


Door sill being finished....


All pretty... mmmm

The body work continues...

I want it to be as light as "sanely/safely" possible.

I have seen rsti's coming in @2800-2900 with driver. (26xx without driver)
Considering that the car is caged.. It might be around that weight with all the reductions.
The cage alone adds about 72lbs.

Unfortunately my budget has run out.. otherwise i'd think about getting the carbon doors.
Not so much the trunk and spoiler as I am aiming for somewhat of a 50/50 balance.

For comparison my old 05 sti came in at 3322 with roughly 3/4 tank and all my "lightweight" mods at that time.
With my fat ass it was 3538..
I almost cried when I saw that.

Hmm, It seems my sub-3000 pound goal isnt unheard of then. I'm going to have a little bit bigger of engine but I imagine the moly tube front and cage will shave it down a bit. Thankfully you've outlined everything of significant weight lol.

I'd imagine your tranny should being lighter than the 6speed ..
minus all the 4wd stuff..
I think you'll be below 3000 easy.

Look at my journal. 2684 lbs on a full STI swap. Wasn't trying too hard to shed weight everywhere, so another 50-100 lbs would be possible.

Yeah, your build is very similar to mine. Love your carbon kit though. I just couldn't justify spending the extra $2k for carbon fiber when I ordered it.
