As the temps drop to a comfy 88F in the garage... :biglaugh:
I can start working again..

Anti-seize the world !!! I use it as a rust protector as well. Marine grade does not wash off that easy.

Spacer or no spacer.. Once the car was lowered, it ended up not needing one.

Up next was the front.

Seems that the bolts supplied are too short. Engagement seems to be the thicknes of the bolt but I think they will need to be replaced.

Forgot if there needed to be some tension on the links...
I do have some butits marginal.

Since I had some more wire laying around it was time to start twisting again.
This time with some help of "iced lemonade".

Looky here a very pretty diagram.

What seemed so complicated is so easy.. The PDM needs only 3 connections.
Slow, Fast and park. It senses where park switch goes to ground and stops the motor.

Tough jobs call for some creative thinking.

There you have it.. punched through behind the motor for a clean look.

Just need to figure out which lead "parks" to ground.

Since I dont have any wiper arms had to use some tape.
Once parking was configured it worked but the wipers parked in the vertical position. I had to flip the motor arm around in order to fix that.

Last but not least the keypad earns another sticker !!!

Played with intermittent settings but couldnt get it to work yet.

Drove here twice with no wipers during rain..
Cant say it was a pleasurable experience.

I was going to pull over to the side of the road but that seemed even more dangerous.

I figured I can have two speeds.. fast and slow.. with the updated firmware of the PDM.
Question is do I want that or an intermittent function instead.

On a second note.. anybody got some wiper arms in decent condtion ?

Well a fancy race car has 2 settings haha. regular race car has 1 and a super race car don't need no wipers

That guy sucks.... Im 150% convinced he doesnt want to sell what he has or doesnt have it. I looked through his list and inquired for about 6-8k worth of parts. The only response i could get is that "it doesnt work on a stock car"

i know this....... im a fabricator by trade. I can make stuff work.

Been there, done that. It's really sad when you go to dump an expensive bottle of gear oil in and then just watch it run right onto the floor.

Well..

I've sucked 1qt out of the tranny before I started working.

Kiddies are now bigger and this tool comes really handy.

Any vaccum pump will do but this one is pretty strong for its size.

Those seals are 15min per side of a job.

oops... now I realized my mistake..
I got the seals for the left side.
(missed that little arrow that says FRONT)

Welp.. left seal on the right side... hope it doesnt leak.

is this what i have to look forward to with a 6mt is oil leaking all over

Made a trip to a local U-pull since they showed they have a 2000 RS...
It ended up being a wagon. :(

Anyhow.. there was a 1993 Impreza as well..
Managed to swipe those beauties.

Having issues with fuel gauge displaying low fuel I managed to find a 05 Fozzy...
Pulled the floats out of it just in case mine were bad.

It was a bitch to pull it out but I got tired of not knowing how much fuel I have.
Tested the resistance and it fell withing specs..
For those interested this is how they read:

Left float:
Full 2.2 ohm
Empty 44 ohm

Right float:
Full 0.5 ohm
Empty 50 ohm

Both Fozzy and Sti floats read the same.

Pulling the passenger float is always a bitch...

I was about to switch them for shits-and-giggles and noticed that the arm arrangement is different.
Since the pass fload read lower than the drivers with 1/2 tank I've bent the float arm a bit.. Figured with it laying in the garage for 3 years it might have gotten bent.

What do you know.. It magically started working.
Somehow I feel it was binding somewhere and after removing it and putting back it re-aligned.
Had a 5 gal jug and filled it up, while watching the gauge....

Here we see a great example of 26 year old wiper arm.
For all its age and how its been beaten by the weather its still not bad.

Here we see such specimen taking a bath in Phosphoric acid mixture.
I think total of 2hrs was required.

Primed and 3 coats of paint... 15 min interval between coats and the shit still runs.

Next on list was a feature I wanted to add for a long time. I've read in few posts that said it's not possible and few other complained as well.
So after a short test.. 2 additional leads were created.

After fiddling around with scaling, the ECU now sees oil and fuel pressure off the Defi gauges.
Super stoked about this!!!
Now I can log both and include those in the "Engine Protection" features of the ECU.
Basically limit rpm or kill engine if oil pressure drops below X amount.
And drop boost if fuel pressure varies within X during boost.

For those that dont know about scaling..
in a nutshell...
you tell the ECU the voltage at 0 psi and the voltage at a 2nd known reference point.. 52PSI for fuel in this case.
since most sensors are linerar ..
based on that you interpolate the values in between and extrapolate beyond your 2nd reference point.
So with in tank pump on I get .3 bar on my gauge which is 8.7psi (@0.8V) and 52psi at 2V when is my 044 is on.
At boost there will be more than 52psi so the rest is extrapolated up to 100psi.

Ok..
did few runs with the oil and fuel pressure sensors hooked up and the output seems credible.

Spent some time fiddling around with "General Purpose RPM Limits".

GP 1 - is Oil pressure table
GP 2 - is Fuel pressure table

Basically what happens is Link will cut spark if a condition is met.

Lets take GP 1 - 65psi / 2000 rpm cell. (rpm limit is set to 2000)
My minimum oil pressure at 2000rpm is 65psi.
My normal pressure at 2000rpm is 75+psi.
So in case that I hit 2000rpm and pressure is still 65psi it will start to limit the rpm to 2000rpm.

The trick with the limit is that it kicks in 200 rpm early.. at 1800 rpm.
By 2000 rpm its a full spark cut.
Between those 200 rpm the cut is progressive so its much smoother on the engine.
2nd variable is "Activation Delay". The cut will start in my case 2 sec after it hit but only if its still in that cell.

At 65/1500 its allowed to go to 4000, but if the oil pressure does not increase by 2000 rpm its only allowed to go to 2000.

With fuel pressure its similar case but thats referenced on MGP pressure instead of rpm.
If there is no rise in pressure for given boost prressure the cut will occur.
