225-45-16 Kumho 712's

Are a fu**er to mount on 7" wide wheels, even with the proper equiptment, ie a new Hunter tire machine, it took two people, and my arms are shaking they're so tired.

No fitment problems on the car, no rubbing. They look a little odd being shorter, but my SPT springs will take of that when they come in.

Initial driving impression, very good. These tires are actually round, vs. my 92's which were apparently not. (No more shaking!) On the highway, steering response seems a little quicker, and on backroad 50 mph "slaloms" it can't even get a squeal now, when the 92's would begin to slide on the 3rd transition. As far as I am concerned, it was $88 a piece well spent.

hope i like my kuhmos when i put them on tuesday
can't be any worse than bald re92's i guess
Hey, I know this is asking a little much, but can you also measure the exact width in inches of the tire for me? If at all possible, let me know the actual tread width, and then the width about 1" away from the ground (basically I want to know if it gets wider as the tire goes around it's edge.)

Thanks!

your re92s are already bald?!

I'd like to try 215's on my car. I wonder if it will throw off the mileage.
If I remember i will measure them when they come back off for my springs, hopefully one day next week. Basically they are a very square profile, the sidewall goes almost straight up from the bead, very small amount of bulge, and the tread goes nearly to the edge of the tire. According to Kumho's specs, the section width is 8.8, and tread is 8.4. My car is an 01.
One question...this is mounted on the stock 01 rims...am I correct? As in 16x7 rims? If it is...I can't believed it fit. I guess I'm getting 225s in about 2 weeks then.

Ben
225's is the biggest you can fit from what i understand on stock pre-2002 RS rims.
Hey, let me know if you have any rubbing in the rear. I know you said you didn't, but I have known people with them that have. Not sure how hard you have pushed them. I would like to get some Azenis in 225/45/16 for Autocross, but don't want to rub. Happy Motoring!;)

let me tell you how much fun my 205/55/16 BFG R1s were to mount. sure, they aren't too wide and 55 aspect ratio isn't too bad, but the sidewalls on those things are incredibly stiff. it took alot of grunting and cursing to mount those bastards.

there's virtually no tread left on my car after nearly 17,000mi
Yep, stock 01RS wheels (16x7), no rubbing in the rear, I actually have slightly MORE clearance now due to the very square profile of the Kumho's. Of course, I make no claims as to whether other brands of tires in this size will fit.
