So I took the first serious road trip in my RS since turboing it back in April.

Drove to SC and back in 2 days.

I was kind of worried, since I haven't driven it over 100 miles or so away at any given time. I kept an eye on all the gauges to make sure I could pull over before anything went boom.

It worked great, and going for an hour or more without hitting positive boost, I got about 28 mpg.

I'm a lot more confident now about the whole thing.:nuetron:

I know im gonna worry about my car messing up when I get the turbo on, especially going on long trips. Blaster88, your running the Legacy kit on your car right?

It is an Aussie Liberty turbo setup with the A/W IC, a Walbro 190 lph fuel pump, a Vortech 4:1 FMU, and a recently added J&S safeguard.

I was traveling between 75 and 85 for a lot of the trip - I kept a very close look at the EGT's because that is where I have seen, on short trips, my EGT's climb past 1500 and I have either backed off or punched the throttle to get a little boost and more fuel. No worries on this trip. RPMs are whatever those speeds work out to in fifth - around 3500 I think.

What I was seeing at cruising speeds with a -15 - -10 inches vacuum was 1400-1475.

We stopped roughly every two hours.

I drive between 80 and 85 until I hit a quarter of a tank and then I pull off, fill up, piss and go. I make MS in 12 hours where other people take 16 hours or even two days if they wuss out and stop.

Once again the key is the EGTs. I run 1380~1450 all the way up to redline in 5th gear, I can cruise at redline in 5th for as long as I dare maintaining about 4psi boost and the EGTs stay in place. Of course looking over at the guage makes one a bit nervous. :checkit:
