For all those people looking to do a USDM WRX or STI swap this is your thread! I'm putting a list of swapped wires together to make the conversion really easy for people looking to do this themselves. If I have forgotten anything or if you would like to add anything don't be shy. These are guides I made for myself so I can follow them just fine but I don't know if anyone else thinks like me. Anyway here you are This is a start and cars that I have done so these should be correct. I would eventually like to add wire colors but I haven't got around to it.

Before you get started on your own project you might want to check out this merge I did. It will give you a step by step process of what to do. (It still under construction)

Brydon teaches you to merge

Just click on the links below and you will get to the wiring guide you are look for. Or scroll down to view them all. Let me know what I can do to make this more useful. I have lots of pictures of wiring merges but they are a little overwhelming when you first see them.

USEFUL STUFF TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING:

Immobilizer:

Drive by wire pedal plug for a 2005 STI:

Drive by wire pedal plug for a 2007 STI and Immobilizer Wiring. The Immobilizer wiring is the same but the 2007 Pedal was changed:

In this picture you can clearly see where the Immobilizer and Antenna and Key are located on the STI column:
Note: For all Immobilizer cars the Key, Immobilizer Unit, and ECU need to match in order for the car to start.

Fuel pump controller:

Fuel pump, DBW, ECU power relays:

All of them are listed below But I'm trying to get it layed out a little better!

Wow +1

My swap is already done but you have just saved countless people many hours of work and hundreds/thousands of dollars.

If you could add an older JDM (ver5-6?) and newer JDM (ver7+) guide then I think this would be about complete, although it's already probably the most useful technical post on this entire forum.

Along with this diagram also dont be afraid to start cutting out random wires you dont need. I have watched Brydon do this and it was ummmm how should I say suprising how ungental he was...lol:eek:mg:

lol. yeah, that's probly going to be hard to do for people that need this thread. theres no turning back at that point. but I guess Brydon is making it so simple anyway.

I've said it once and i'll say it again, Brydon, you are the man.

Awsome!

Although I think this might put ECS out of business.

I highly doubt it! In my experience the people that don't wont to try will always pay to have this done. For the more adventuresome that would tackle a project like this themselves, it will just make the project a little faster and easier. Besides I even tell people to buy the pedal adapters from ECS. They have proven to be a quality product.

When I do this on my own car in the next month I will take a lot of pictures of changing the crossmember and power steering. And also some of the more hidden bolts on the dash and how all that comes apart. Maybe even throw in some pictures mounting the fuel pump controller and how I wire the controller itself.

I'll be very interested to see these!!! It's the one part of the swap I'm somewhat in the dark about.

Thanks for your help so far through PMs man, this thread has already got so much useful information in it. I'll try and take some pics while I'm working on my 05 swap in a week.

I'm sure this thread will get stickied too. (It better at least!)

Brydon - last question before I tape up the harnesses. The O2 sensor heating circuit in the RS ties into the RS main relay. the STI has its own circuit independent of anything on the RS. Is it fine to remove the wire from the RS main relay since the rest of the wires aren't connected to anything?

FYI, I can add pictures and elaborate on the "randoms" if you'd like. I have a picture for 99% of the wires I soldered.

Thank you so much for this thread. I am in the middle of this wiring nightmare.

Edit: This thread needs to be a sticky!

You should be using the STI front and rear o2 sensors. The heater wire is Yellow/Red on the STI harness and leads directly back to the main relay. I only use the RS relays so I had to change this over. I remember you saying you are using the STI relays.?. If so they should already be wired to that relay.

On the RS side you should be able to ignore the heater wire or use it for something else you need power for. It is just a relayed 12v source.

Perfect. I'll fire the rest of the pics up for the '07 merge in my thread tomorrow, feel free to use them.

I should also clarify one thing here.. If you keep both the RS and STI relays, there will be less wires to merge. All you need to do is delete the fuel pump relay control wire (Lg/B IIRC) and T the two main relay control wires together (Lg) and you get rid of a few wires for the immobilizer and you also have the proper wiring for the fuel pump controller.
Example:

2007 STI Fuel Pump Controller

R122/1 (B) - To the ground leading to the fuel pump (B) --> Wire is present on the STI relay
R122/2 (V/W) - Wired directly to the ECU
R122/3 (B/Y) - Wired to the 12Volt power leading to the fuel pump (B/R) --> Present on STI Relay
R122/4 (B/W) - Wired to negative side of fuel pump (B)
R122/5 (Lg/R) - Wired directly to the ECU
R122/6 (B/Or) - To positive side of fuel pump (B/R)

That way, you can make up a harness containing the two ECU wires and the B/Y and B wires from the STI Fuel Pump relay and run it all the way back.

Brydon, feel free to correct me but this is what I have found by searching through the wiring diagrams and staring at my harness for countless hours
