I picked up this 1993 impreza L last year and its been just a commuter up till this last. for a car with 260k on it, its overall condition (everything worked) was good, but it did have some wear and tear and body damage.

With that i came close to unloading it, but I've decided to hang on to it to fix up and make it what i want which is a better street car and to run some rallycross

For now im doing some basic upgrades and mods.

on the list to do
new weather stripping for the doors,
upgrade the seats
upgrade center console
diy short shifter, change the angle and actually extend it closer to the wheel
add rear sway bar
swap in an ej22 for an easy power bump.
new engine mounts
replace all bushings
new mounts for the crossbars
mounting fog lights, and driving lights


in the future

the first mod to the car has been simple upgrade/fixes.

the car came with drums so those had to go. plus the front left caliper was dragging.
I picked up some brakes off of a 2003 wrx, the rotors and pads were near new so that was a win. They came all together so i only needed to buy the brake lines. Unfortunaly had to go a little ham on the carpet to change the cables




the 14's werent going to fit the front 2 pots so i took the 16" 5 spokes and painted them gold. about 2 coast of gold and 1 of clear. not perfect but good enough


Last winter the trunk collected a few inches of rain water so i need to fix the weather stripping. there was also some rot and paint damage so i took a wire wheel and painted over and installed the new seal.





I also replaced the trans mount with a new aftermarket one. cleaned the plate and repainted it. Gonna pull it back off to diy fill it in to make it more solid.



next up was to fix the suspension. wasnt a fan of the boat ride. I picked up some KYB excel G, and some 06 sti springs. so far the ride is definately stiffer. time will tell if i feel like keeping it. It ended up may lowering it a 1/2"

Report: so i've been driving on the sti springs. Using 06 sti springs mounted to rs kyb excel G struts. ride is definitly firmer and the overall stance is pretty level. I do feel small bumps a lot more, and the fitment wasnt as solid as i hoped. I did use 91 legacy rear top hats so no issues there, just the fronts dont sit perfect. Gonna give them a few months and if i dont like them going to install springs from a standard wrx
