right. But someone was saying on here that 2002 WRX Pads and 2000RS pads were identical.

Is that true?

02 wrx pads are the same as the Rs's. I know because I've used them for many years.

To the poster, why do you need to know if they do or not? A little more info could be needed. Are you buying new pads from a vendor or private? It would be nice to know so we can give you a strait yes or no to save you some confusion.

IIRC, 2002 works fine. Mid-MY2003 is when the caliper was re-designed.

Part numbers say that's a set of D929/D1004, for late build 2002+ Imprezas.
Correct.

Go out to your car and look at the calipers. The D721 pads have a single tang on the edges. The D929 looks very close to it but it has double tangs. They will not interchange. Trust me I just went through this two weeks ago. Those pads will not fit your car.

Look for pads that are the D721 kind. Also make sure to get the correct rear pads to go with it. There are three different kinds of pads that go with that too.

Thanks very much everyone who chimed in. The reason I am asking is because eBay only has the HPS pads for WRX'es and not the RS. I read that 02WRX pads fit the RS but I wanted to make sure before I bought them. And now that I know they don't I just wanna say thanks! :)

Yeah.. I saw that. I guess, truthfully, $180 is a little more than I wanted to spend on brake pads. That's kinda ridiculous. How much do OEM's run for a full set?
