Hello im cheap and i dont think i can afford a wrx right now. Anyway a stock legacygt/imprezaRS can do 0-60 in around 8.5 sec give or take a driver. I was wondering if there was a way to get this time down to 7 sec flat for $1000 worth of parts? I was thinking a ecu piggy back and a cat back system and if there is money left over some type if intact like a k&n or a cold air intake that doesnt take hot air in from the engine bay ( kinda defeats the perpose). Anyway the cars i need to beat are a zx2 that does 0-60 in 7.5 sec and a civic si with that 1.6l 165hp screamer in it. I also need to be in the mid 15's as the civic guy managed to pull a 16 flat with a cold air intake and a cat back system ( yes he sucks as a driver). Got any idea if this is possible and what parts i need ( not just cat back but which cat back)? I really dont want to switch to a gtp if i dont have to.

Basic bolt ons and you'll be in the 15's, add cams and you should be into (or damn close to) the upper 14's.

CAI w/ performance filter (~$150-300)
-Ganzflow/PDM/Cobb/etc.
-K&N/Amsoil
Lightened/underdrive pulley(s) (~$100-250)
-N1/SubySports/MrJosh43/etc.
2.25"-2.5" performance catback (~$600)
-Stromung/Greddy/Borla/etc.
-MRT full set

Guaranteed to get you past the 7.5 0-60 time. Maybe even high 6 secs. :flame:

You might manage 7.0 without cams and headwork, but it might cost a bit more than $1000 worth of bolt-ons. Heres a cut and paste from Larry Ganz' website:

Now for the "G-Tech" Facts
Stock Impreza RS (Tibor on i-club)
Data entered into G-Tech
Car Weight = 3100 Lbs (includes driver)
Times were taken on the same stretch of the highway at 12:00 (midnight about over a span of 3 weeks) A total of 27 runs were taken, 9 stock runs, 9 cat back runs, and 9 Header w/ cat back runs. Each section will show the averages. The other mods which were prestent during all the runs are K&N Filter, Cold air tube to the fender, and Under Drive Pulley.

Before Catback or Headers:
0-60 = 8.1 Sec (average of 3 runs)
1/4 Mile = 16.14 @ 86 (Best of 3 runs)
HP = 115 (average of 3 runs)

Brullen 2.25" Cat Back exhaust before Headers:
0 - 60 = 7.4 (average of 3 runs)
1/4 Mile = 15.39 @ 90 (Best of 3 runs)
HP = 121 (average of 3 runs)

Header + 2.25 Cat Back exhaust:
0 - 60 = 6.91 (average of 3 runs)
1/4 Mile = 14.94 @ 92 (Best of 3 runs)
HP = 136 (average of 3 runs)

Dude you should be able to beat the ZX2 it's a fucking escort for fuck sake...I know I've spanked them left and right on the FWY and on the streets, SI's you shouldn't have a problem with them until you hit about 90 then they just pull away as you know the impreza is very aerodynamically challenged so keep that in mind...

I have a Ganzflow CAI w/ K&N filter, short shifter, and Stomung axel-back exhaust, and I can run mid to low 7's 0-60 all day long. And that stuff was well under $1k. About $600, I think. Add some cams, and you should be into the 6's pretty easily, or a piggyback chip to get consistent low 7's (if they work, which no one has any dyno numbers to show one way or the other).

maybe you need to look at your driving, is you car auto, or manual? How are you launching?

Agreed on the <$1000 mods to beat the other guys, remember the front drivers ARE quick in a straight line. Ask them to chase you around a race track!

intake $99
borla header $308
cat back $449 (borla) , others may be cheaper
short shifter$120

lightened flywheel or pulley helps too, inake and exhaust are 'best bang for the buck'
